CAREFUL, I ALMOST GOT CAUGHT

I watched him walked towards the backstage. Before the curtain falls down, he gave me one last glance to make sure I am okay. I gave him an 'okay' signal before he was finally out of my sight. I took a bite of the biscuit the waiter gave to our table while waiting for the Runway segment to start. Roaming my eyes around, I saw most of my classmates having a night to remember. Well, for the record, it's going to be a night to remember for me as well, because from what I am  feeling right now, tonight will not be an easy night to survive. However, I need to finish this no matter what happens. The host went to the stage again and gave more speech before I heard him say that we are finally proceeding to the Runway segment. Trying to get a hold of my surroundings, I roamed my eyes around once again. At the farthest back corner of the hall, I saw Claude. He looked lost, his eyes were circling around the halls. He was holding his right arm. I carefully walked towards him and when he saw me his eyes beamed in disguise and pulled me closer to him as if he's hugging me. As he leaned closer, he whispered. "Careful, I almost got caught."  Trying to maintain the act, I brushed his hair and smiled at him. "Where have you been?" "Out, I was trying to get a drug sample but I almost got caught by one of their guards. Good thing he thought I was just a cat for Christ's sake." When the party lights went past us, I saw the dirt of his inner polo. "You know they're gonna suspect you once they saw that mud on your polo, right?" He gave me an obvious 'i know' look. "Wait here, I'll  do something about that." Before he could even react, I walked fast to the table where champagne and wines are located. I took a glass of wine with me and went back to Claude. I was fake drinking the wine when I told him my plan. "Now, you'll have a reason to go and get change." He stared at me dumbfounded, not sure what I was talking about when My wine met his suit. "Oh sorry!" I faked gasp and everyone near us looked in our direction. "Sorry, I lost balance because the crowd was kinda full." I carefully moved my eyes around to see if any of the guards noticed it.  I saw the guard at the entrance of the hall looking at us, checking what happened. "You should go get change. I am really sorry." "Yeah, it's fine." Claude replied. He walked straight to the entrance and the guard let him pass. He gave me a wink before the door closed behind him. "Okay, were done here." I murmured to myself. "Done with what?" I immediately turned to face the man who leaned on my ear. "You scared me Demetry." I said. He chuckled in response. "I was about to talk to you when you spilled your drink in his suit." "Yeah, kind of lost the balance with this huge crowd." I answered. "Did you know Daniel's gonna walk in that Runway later?" He pointed at the stage. "Yeah, I was with him when the staff took him hostage."  I heard his laugh even if the music was starting to occupy my ear again. "It was me, don't tell him." "What do you mean?" I asked him as I moved a little closer so I could hear him. "I put his name on the list, then I told the staff that he's going to say no so tell him it was mandatory."  "Well, you caught him in a trap." "Yep! Just like a mouse." He smirked. " So, I better get going! Got so much stuff to be done tonight." "It's hard to be the organizer for this kind of events." I said to him before he took off. "Yep, but I must say, the reward is too good." I didn't get what he meant by that but I waved at him anyway. I was about to get in my seat when the lights went off, signaling the start of the segment. "So I bet everyone's waiting for this!" The emcee yelled making the crowd go wilder than earlier. "In a matter of minutes we are going to witness different fashion brands walking here with the elite students of Addilyn University!" Elite students, huh. This univerity really divided the students based on their social status. That's why studying here made me see that they focus more on improving their social status rather than studying hard to get into a good college. Well, they can pay for college, so why would they even bother. The music suddenly changed and the first model stepped into the spotlight! For our first model, we have Ash Crow! Heir of the Crow's residences who built the largest condominium building here at Grant City!" Everyone at the back hollered. I bet they are his friends. When he heard them, he waved at their direction then he started walking. "Walking with his Louis Vuitton, which you may check and grab later after the party." As the emcee explained what he was wearing, I moved my chair a little so I could have a good look of the stage. "Next, we have Claire Somerdale!" I saw flashes to my right, it was her girl friends supporting her. "The daughter of the famous wine company here in Grant, and will be expanding outside Grant soon! They'll be hitting  Solaire City withing next year! The audience applauded in amazement. I can see how the students are more updated in each and everyone's businesses than our assignment with Ms. Hilda that is due next week. The models went on, one after another and even after this segmentwas already running for fifteen minutes or more, the crowd is not getting tired. the energy is just the same. I was getting bored when the emcee announced the next model. "Next in line we have our young CEO, Grey Mitchell!" My eyes went immediately to look at him. His suit fits him very well. I laughed a little when I saw that he was just wearing a plain vneck tshirt inside. Very Grey. However, I'm immediately regretted that I said it was just a plain vneck shirt when the emcee explained what he was wearing. It was a plain Vneck Chanel shirt which I know would cost a lot so I am taking back what I said. "Every businessman should be wary of this kid! I bet you don't know yet but he already expanded outside Grant City just yesterday!" Everyone made that "oooooh" sound. "This young talented kid who didn't even tell the world what he was doing and I just figured it out when I heard the news earlier. Then now you know because I am the gossip boy of Grant." When he was walking next to the emcee, he tapped his shoulder before he faced the audiences again and waved at the crowd. I could  really be deaf after all those girls cheered foor him. "Never thought he was that hot!" "I need a picture with him later." "Proud of you, spoiled brat." I whispered to myself. Who would have thought that he would accomplish so much in this age? He already expanded his business. I really wanted to congratulate him but somehow, I don't think it's still cool to be close to him. Now that I saw it personally, that Andrea have him on a leash. "I bet you know who's next!" The cheers were as louder than ever. "We have Andrea! The daughter of the owner of Addilyn University!" Everyone cheered for her the moment she dragged her heels on the stage. "Another young CEO who sucessfully entered the fashion industry! Everyone, witness the masteriece being worn by the creator itself!" "Oh my gosh, the dress is so nice, she made it?" "Yeah she did, she is really talented." "I want that, I'm gonna buy that!" "That is, if you can afford it!" I heard the girld beside me talking. How the hell did I tangle myself with these kinds of people? The lights went off, the music changed. Everyone stood up from their seats with their phones on. I know who's next. "This young lad don't need introduction but I will still give you one!" The music and the yells mixed together, it was very deafening. "The President of the Student Council in Addilyn University, the Heir of the top company here in Grant City! The owner of The Sinclair's!"  Everyone just started to cheer so hard. "Let's all welcome, Daniel Rowder!" It's not just deafening, it's also blinding. The flashes were just too much. "I would lay everything to get laid by him." Said the girl beside me who's taking a video of him. Every eyes were fixated on him as he walked on the runway. He got everything, he got everyone. So how the hell can I believe that he actually likes me? He's a president of all things. Everyone notices him. While there's me, a special agent, no home, no family, just a dangerous job. Thinking about everything made me realized again that I don't belong here. I don't belong in this crowd. I'm just an undercover after all. I was about to leave my seat when I looked at the stage, he was at the middle of the runway, staring at me. My eyes met his deep orbs.
