This is going to be a long night. I never tried attending parties. I was still young when my life was normal.
I opened my dresser to check if I have clothes for this kind of occasion. As I was scanning my dresser, I stopped and started thinking again if I should go or not. I should be just in the lime light, not trying to enter any scene that might put their eyes on me. However, I think I need to at least try to make friends with other people so that I will look less doubtful.
I picked the plain black dress and moved quickly to prepare myself. In the middle of my preparation, my phone rang.
"Partner?"
"I was just about to call you." I replied to him as I was fixing my hair.
"Demetry told me. I'm here at your lounge, I'll take you there."
"Fifteen minutes."
He laughed on the other line. "Yes, ma'am."
I quickly straightened my hair, organized my stuff and put it inside the bag.
I grabbed my heels and wore them as I put my watch on my wrist.
I made sure I locked the door and hurried down the lobby.
As I walked towards Grey who was wearing a black fitted v-neck shirt partnered with a denim pants and a black rubber shoes, he just stared at me.
"What?" I asked him. I could hear the annoyance in my voice. I am not used to wearing this kind of dress.
"You. You. Partner." He kind of stuttered and I just arched my eyebrows in confusions.
"What?"
"You look different." His eyes sparkled in an instant.
He assisted me to the door and opened it.
I was surprised to see the car parked in front of the dormitory.
Drake went out of the car, bowed down to Grey and me.
"Good evening."
"You know I hate formalities Drake." He tapped his shoulder.
As Drake opened the door for us, Grey assisted me to get inside.
It is a different car from the one that we used before.
"Is this yours, too?" I asked him as he tried to fix my dress so he won't sit on it.
"Yep." He said, popping the P.
Drake cleared his throat. "Randolf Boulevard, am I right sir?"
Grey laughed that he still didn't drop the formality. "Yes Drake."
"Off we go."
---
We arrived at the Randolf Boulevard and from here, I can see where the party is located. The lights were on and the sound were booming.
"Should I wait for you?" Drake arrived at the front gate of the mansion.
"Yes Drake. I'll send you a message if we are done."
Grey opened the car doors for me, he even pulled my dress so the style won't be ruined.
"You want to cling on my arms? Just to make sure you wouldn't fall as you walk up on that stairs." He pointed the stairs that we were about to climb.
I thought it was just a small party but why does it feels like I am in the red carpet.
"Okay. I don't want to roll over that stairs."
As I cling my arms around him, I saw Daniel walking towards us.
"Nice timing we got there, Daniel."
"Yeah." Daniel just replied to him plainly but he was staring at me.
"You okay?" Daniel asked me.
"'Of course she is fine, she is with me. Now, will you excuse us?" Grey said to him. I can clearly feel the anger in his tone.
"Calm down he was just asking."
"Why ask? I am beside you. Does he think I am letting you get hurt?" His eyebrows were knitted in confusion.
I let out a soft chuckle "Alright spoiled brat, move on."
I placed my hand on his arms which instantly put a smile on his face. "Shall we?"
I nodded in response.
Once we entered the hall where the party is located, half of the students were already wasted. It's a huge party if I may say. I thought it was just a simple beer party inside a house but I was totally wrong. This is big. I've never been to a small house party before, what more for a mansion party.
"Let's go find the host."
We roamed around the halls and at the front part of the hall we saw Andrea, she was with Demetry.
"Oh there they are." Grey pointed at them.
"You know Andrea?" I asked him, confused.
"Of course. Everyone knows the daughter of the owner of Addilyn University."
I was frozen. She was the daughter of the owner of the University? I didn't know that. No one even oriented me, not even Demetry.
"Oh. That, I didn't know." I just said to him.
He gave a little laugh. "Well, he is the ex girlfriend of Daniel."
That gave me another surprise for tonight. Well obviously, it's impossible for him to be like single since birth, but I wasn't thinking of that idea, maybe because he looks cold, and he looks like someone who isn't even interested in dating. But anyway, if it is the daughter of the owner, I understand Daniel.
"I heard she was gone for a while?"
"Yes, she went to Paris for her business opening. I was invited to go but Paris is not for me. I don't like pastas." Grey found an empty table near the stage and he pulled the chair for me. "Sit first madam, wait for me."
He fixed his shirt then went directly to Andrea and Demetry. Andrea kissed him on his cheeks which he happily received, then gave Demetry a weird hand shake. From here I can hear them yelling.
He then pointed at me. Demetry and Andrea waved so I did the same.
--
"I'll look around. Take your time and talk to your friends." I said to Grey.
Grey was contemplating whether he will come with me but I insisted that I want to explore the venue alone.
"Just give me a call if anything happens, okay?" Grey instructed me.
"Yes."
I walked out of the hall then went straight to the garden. I found myself alone.
I sat at the bench and looked how stars are shining tonight.
"Tired?" A familiar voice said.
"Hi Daniel." I smiled at him. "Yes, I am."
For the first time, he smiled at me, a sweet smile where I can see how aligned his teeth are.
"Well, that makes the two of us." He sat with me and we admired the stars together.
