38. YOU ARE THAT GIRL

1284 Words
I should be preparing for the Fashion Night, but here I am, with my baggy pants and a to go hoodie, waiting for her sister. I was surprised when I heard my phone ringing in my pocket, just when I thought it was his sister canceling the plan, I saw the name 'Claude' on the screen. "Oh no, he knows." I whispered under my breath. "Where the hell are you, Alyanna?" I heard him yelling over the phone but I can obviously hear the concern in his voice. "I just need to finish some stuff first, don't worry, I will be back as soon as I'm done here." I explained. "You should be focusing on your job right now Alyanna! What you're doing, you're getting yourself in trouble!" "I'll be fast, I promise." I said.  I know I shouldn't be doing this. Once again, I was disappointed with myself. I was never like this since the day I entered the organization. I always have my focus, I am always focused. I know, it's my curiosity that led me here. Curiosity kills a cat. "Make sure you get your ass in here before dark, you don't want the organization to pull you out of this mission." "Yes. I'll be back in no time." He hung up on me. Fear suddenly engulfed me. I don't wanna be pulled out from this mission, although I know it's my fault if that happens. I was in the middle of contemplation whether I will wait for her or run back to the university when I saw a tall woman walking towards me. When she stopped in her tracks, she immediately removed the glasses she was wearing then gave me her warmest smile. What a perfect teeth. "Hi, Alyanna." "Hello, Ylona."  I was about to offer a hand shake when she pulled me a little bit closer and kissed my cheeks. "Nice to finally meet you, I heard a lot about you." "Me?" I asked, confused. She just gave me a wink before she signaled me to follow her. She's so tall. Obviously, she's older than Daniel. She was wearing a cream colored suit and slacks with a black mesh top inside, and a black heels to emphasize her height more. "I reserved a seat for us, and don't worry, thirty minutes will do." She sat down across me. The staff pulled out the chair for me. "Thank you." I murmured. When we were both seated, the first thing she grabbed wasn't the menu, but the bottle of champagne sitting at the middle of the table. As she poured down her glass and it went straight to her mouth, she began talking. "So, since we don't have any spare time for chit chat, I'll get straight to the point..." She poured herself another glass, she tried to offered me but I refused. Instead, I sipped on the tea that was already served before we even sit here. She stared at me, not giving me the same smile as earlier. She was staring hard at me. Now, I can see her resemblance from Daniel. Her eyes were as deep as his. Her nose were as pointed as his, too. "Do you like my brother?" Oh really? That's the question? I thought she's gonna black mail me or something. I thought she's a 'pro-Andrea'. "I'm sorry but if I may ask, why?" She chuckled a little. "My brother likes you, I bet he already told you that." When I didn't respond, she just smiled again. "And, he's not close to anyone but me... So, when I told you earlier that I heard a lot about you, it's because he talks a lot about you." "Oh." That's the only thing I could utter. "Yeah, so I just want to know if there's a chance that you'll return the feelings of my brother." "So that's why you're here? To make sure that someone will catch your brother?" She was taken aback by what I said. Well, I know, they are not just someone. I'm sure she has all the reasons to know the answer to her question. "What do you mean?" She poured down another glass and the wine did not even stayed in the glass for five seconds, she already put them all in her mouth. "So you don't like him?" "I am not a pro to this, but I think I am right if I told  you it's none of your business, right? With all due respect, he should be the one asking, and I should be telling the answers to him, directly." I thought she was gonna get mad but I saw her lip turned upwards. "Oh my, you're making me like you too." Her smile isn't fading. "Now I know why he likes you." I didn't say anything. Actually, I don't know what to say. "Well, I just asked you because I am curious to my brother's love life." She quoted her hands in the air. "And... I really wanna see you. I wanna make sure if what he's telling me about you, is real... and I guess, it is." "Well, I don't know what he told you but, thank you?" I said hesitantly.  She just gave me another smile. "Well, I really do hope you'll like my brother, you know. The things he experienced with her ex, it wasn't good, and I just don't want him to be like me." "Like you?" I asked. "Me. Traumatized. Swore to myself that I will never marry anyone." She unbuttoned her suit. "I want him to believe, you know. Even if our family is broken, and his sister was damaged by a man, I want him to believe that it exist- the word love." I just listened to her story as the staff started to put the foods on our table. "Daniel has this cold aura, that usually make those people around him, don't get close to him. However, it once cracked when he met Andrea. But with what happened to them, and what that b***h did to him, his walls started to build up again, double than before. After that, I cannot even talk to him nor have a good casual brother-sister talk with him." She started eating the pasta, and I did too. "Then one day, he came barging in my office, telling me how his school was and saying how he saw this girl... You are that girl." The waiter replaced the half empty bottle of champagne with a new one. With what I heard, I cannot even chew the pasta I have in my mouth. "I don't know if you like my brother or not, like what he said, you're not the typical easy to read. I just wanna thank you for making him feel that again. I know it was never your intention to make my brother like you, and I am pretty sure it never occurred to you that he will have his eyes on you... But either way, seeing my brother smile again while talking? That made my every morning." __________________________________________________________________________________________ "Are you sure you don't want me to take you to Addilyn?" She asked again as the driver opened the door for her. "No, it's okay." I said. "Well, it would be a mess if Andrea will see my car dropping you off." She sat inside. "But don't worry, I won't let her near you." "I can handle myself, don't worry." I assured her. "Just like what you said to him. I'll call you again sometime, maybe donate two hours of your time to me, I'll make sure it's worth it." She smiled again before the driver closed the door and the engine started.
