Chapter SevenPia grabbed cans of food from the shelf and tucked them into the canvas bag hanging from her arm. She peeked over the display at the shopkeeper as he rang up items the pregnant woman at the counter selected. His crystal-blue eyes sparkled from under a thick lock of dark hair that fell over his forehead. The woman murmured something, and he threw back his head and guffawed, the somber expression on his face melting away like butter in a frying pan. She snickered at the sound of his laughter. He glanced in her direction and dipped his head in acknowledgment. Her face warmed. She ducked and resumed shopping. His aquiline nose and square jaw sparked a foggy memory.
