Fight or Flight

Yanin POV

We spent the last 2 hours just getting to know each other. He said about 30 minutes ago we were almost to the pack house. The trees here are amazing I don't think I have seen any this tall. I mean living in the city has a disadvantage to nature. He tried explaining about the pack but I wasn't understanding and Ivie is making me uncomfortable. I start seeing eyes out in the woods. Are those giant cats? At this point my eyes are playing tricks on me I think to myself. Ivie keeps pacing back and forth and I don't know what to do.

"Is everything ok Ivie" I ask her.

"I have to get out of here" is her response.

As soon as those words leave her my body is burning all I can do is scream. Yairi immediately puts her hand on my arm.

"Pull the car over" she yells "NOW." I let out another scream and I hear Phoenix.

"Yanin, me and Yairi are going to shift when we get you out let Ivie take control" she says.

"Okay" I get out with tears rolling down my cheeks. William finally stops the car and Yairi jumps out. She throws my door open and gets me out almost immediately she is in Phoenix's form.

"Give Ivie control" she tells me.

"GO IVIE" I yell. I look up at Phoenix and one word gets us both moving.

"RUN" Ivie yells. We both take off as fast as we can. William and Michelle had yelled something but we took off so fast I didn't hear them. Not looking back at this point I realize I'm a wolf. I freaking have a wolf I'm excited but Ivie is not letting me enjoy this moment. She is completely on edge and it makes me uncomfortable.

"We have to move, we have to move" she keeps repeating. Phoenix right next to us not asking questions just going. When she gets taken down by a big ass black leopard. Now I have seen them in a zoo but this particular one was massive way bigger than the zoo.

"What is happening" I get out to Yairi.

But she doesn't link back she is going toe to toe with this leopard. I didn't know Yairi could fight or maybe it's Phoenix but she is giving this cat a beating. It goes to jump at her but she ducks and catches it by the throat slamming it's head into the ground. I hear a mixture of cats, bears and I think more wolves gnashing their teeth and growling. I am in full panic mode when this dark brown wolf steps out showing his teeth ears pulled back ready to fight me.

"This one's mine" Ivie says I can feel her smile. I turn to look back at Yairi and she has the cat pinned still. The wolf lunges at me and I see him from the corner of my eye. Ivie ever so slowly steps to the side and we watch him fall. She jumps on his back biting his neck and pressing his head into the earth with all her strength. I don't know what's going on but to feel Ivie's emotions it's like a game. She lets it get up and it runs toward Phoenix but I catch it by the hind leg and tossing it at a tree. Hearing the wood crack I know I hurt it, it runs at me again when Theo gets in front of me and bellows this roar so loud. The wolf just stops and stares at him like he is confused. He looks toward Phoenix and Yairi and I instantly drop my ears. I can feel my fur rising and teeth showing, if he takes one step to her I will have his head. Yairi still has the cat pinned down practically sitting on his head it's back legs are tiring and sliding in the dirt. Michelle finally comes to view and she nuzzles the brown wolf rubbing herself into his fur and he returns the gesture. He walks behind a few trees his gaze never leaving Yairi and mine locked on him. A man steps out in shorts blood running down his back and the side of his head. I finally see Michelle and she is back in her form in a t-shirt. She runs up to this man and in his arms she holds him like her life depends on it and he gives her a kiss on the forehead. She whispers something to him and he gets the biggest smile and looks at me.

"Yanin, Yairi you guys are safe you can shift back" he says. At this point I feel Williams hands in my fur I look down at him just seeing him smile makes my knees weak.

"You are gorgeous, you are wow, you are HUGE" he says his hands gesturing the last part. I can only see my paws but it's a shimmering blue almost looks like snow. I look back at Yairi and Phoenix still has the cat down and Michelle talking to her.

"Ivie is it safe" I ask.

"If Theo and William trust them it must be and that wolf knows Michelle" she says. I look at William and he laughs knowingly he hands me my backpack and points at some brush.

"I will stand right here and make sure no one sees you" he says running his hands through my fur. I press my forehead against his and he just closes his eyes. I step around the tree and Ivie gives me control I fall down immediately and laugh at myself. I get dressed and come around Phoenix looks at me still not letting up on the cat.

"Talk to your sister" Michelle begs me. So I walk over to her and I can feel her fear.

"Babe I need you to let it up I don't think it can breath" I tell her. She looks at me and back at the cat underneath her. Slowly she steps off of it and the cat gets up slowly walking toward Michelle.

"I have clothes for you babe, let's go behind the trees" I tell her leading her to where I changed. Her eyes never leaving the cat she really messed him up. She shifts back and I hand her my clothes.

"I just fell on my face when I shifted back" I laugh but she stays quiet.

"Aunt Michelle says it's safe and I'm right here babe" I tell her rubbing her arms.

"Phoenix said he's our mate" she gets out. "I just slammed my mates head into the ground and sat on him till he almost passed out. I can't show my face he's not going to want to talk to me after this."

"Are you serious" I say feeling my jaw hit the floor.

"Yanin I'm scared what is happening I feel drawn to him but I'm to embarrassed to see him" she tells me.

"Let's just take it one step at a time" I tell her.

We step around and now it's just Michelle and William even the guy Michelle knew was gone.

"Are you ok" William asks moving my hair looking at my neck and arms.

"I'm fine" I tell him yanking my arm back.

"You girls are impressive training will be so much fun" Michelle says with a smile.

"Did you not just see what happened" Yairi asked.

"I did and it was spectacular, I will explain everything tomorrow right now let's get settled in" she says.

I am so tired my first shift and first fight in the same 10 minutes I'm exhausted. Just like he read my mind William picks me up and I snuggle into his warm chest. He smiles at me and kisses my forehead with that I wrap my hands around his neck and laying my head on him. It was quite the walk back to the truck and I fell asleep in his arms drooling on his shirt. Damn it this is embarrassing but he doesn't seem to mind. I sit with Yairi in the backseat and I can see she is bothered and has tears in her eyes.

"Want to talk about it" I mind link her.

"Not really" she says.

"Everything will be fine babe I promise" I tell her.

"He left I didn't even get to see him I know I did what I did but he didn't want to see me. William practically drop to his knees and crawled to you at the gas station. He doesn't want me I just feel broken and like crap. Why didn't we get up?" she lets it all go.

"I don't know maybe when we get to the house you can talk to him. You did slam his head hard what if he needed to get it checked out" I try reasoning.

"What do you think" William asks getting our attention.

"It's beautiful" we say in unison.

Michelle and William just smile as we pull into this Mansion it is something you see on TV. It was mesmerizing I think both of us where in awe of this place. We park and William comes and opens my door. I can see some of the people look at him like they are scared but he's my big teddy. We walk in the double doors and we are met with the man who was the brown wolf.

"My love, it's always hard when you leave" he says kissing Michelle. Not just any kiss like they could get down to doing the deed right here kiss.

"My dearest heart, I won't have to leave anymore, this is them" she says.

"It's nice to meet you I'm Christopher, Michelle's mate" he says. He extends out his hand and we both introduce ourselves.

"Michelle has told me so much about you, it's crazy to finally meet you, ever since we met you two have been her goal" he says.

"I hope I'm not being rude but today was my first shift, and then you, I'm really tired" I say looking at William.

"Of course, I'm sorry Abby can you show---"

"My mate stays with me I can take her to our room" William cuts him off.

"And Yairi" Christopher asks raising his eyebrow. William stays quiet and I kind of laugh.

"That's what I thought grumps" he tells William with a smile.

"Abby will you show Yairi here to her room" he continues. A young girl our age comes up and just looking at her outfit her and Yairi will be best friends, punk rock goddesses.

"Christopher I don't know where her room is" she says shyly.

"Well you know where the Alpha is, correct" he asks.

"Well yes but--"

"Go ask him I can guarantee he knows exactly where she will be" he says. With that her eyes get big and she looks at Yairi with a big smile.

"Yes sir, let's go find our alpha" she says hooking her arm with Yairi.

"It's ok link me if you need me" I link her. I see her body relax and she walks with Abby.

"I love you toots" she says back.

I look at William and raise my hands like a small child would. He laughs and picks me up I wrap my legs around him and lay my head in his neck. Who knew this smell would be so relaxing? The way he holds me like if it's to hard he will break me but so firm as if he will lose me.

"Would you like to lay in the bed or couch" he asks as he opens a door.

"Bed please" I say. He carries me into his apartment and gives me a quick tour. When he opens the door to the bedroom I am amazed. His bed is made of wood but the actual tree trunks lightly burned and polished giving a really rustic look. He has beige curtains the the windows are a stained glass giving the room a warm glow. He lays me down on this cloud of a mattress and I don't think I will ever leave. As he draws the curtains I take the time to look at the whole room. Pictures of him and I assume family, mountains, rivers, and waterfalls. It's absolutely perfect as I'm looking around I notice him watching me.

"What" I ask feeling embarrassed.

"Nothing just seeing you in my bed it's the best feeling ever" he replies. "Would you like me to get your clothes to change or did you want to wear that?"

"Honestly can I just have the shirt you are wearing" I ask.

With the biggest smile ever he takes his shirt off and hands it to me. I slip it on over my clothes and pull my shirt and bra through the arm holes.I sit up a bit so it covers my waist and pull my pants off and socks throwing them on the side of the bed.

"You really are something, most women go in the bathroom and change" he says still standing by the windows.

"Well for one I'm never getting out of this bed. Second I should be comfortable with my mate. Lastly no one told you to watch." I say giggling.

I feel myself getting so sleepy and his bed is just calling me to sleep. I snuggle under the blanket and close my eyes.

"William" I say.

"Yes sweetheart" he whispers.

"Can you lay with me" I ask opening one eye.

"Of course sweetheart" he says with a smile. The smile I will keep on his face forever because he is absolutely perfect. He climbs in bed next to me in just his shorts and I cuddle up to him. I graze my nose across his scar and I feel him tense up. I can hear him swallow and I know it does something to him.

"This is my new favorite spot" I say kissing his neck right next to the scar. "Because you are absolutely perfect." I feel his whole body relax and he wraps his arms around me. Kissing me on the forehead I put an arm around him pulling myself closer into his neck. Before I knew it both of us were sleeping like babies.
