Broken

"Get behind me".My Older brother said in a calm tone, I ran in fear and held the only person I trusted and felt safe around, I could hear the hint of fear in his voice he was trying so hard to hide I didn't move my eyes from the image of my Dad hitting my mom, I could see my mom crying and screaming in pain trying to break free from my dads grip. "Go to your rooms" my mom yelled the pain and fear in her voice broke me, Nathan and I did as we were told ,Nathan held my hands and slowly took me to my room. "Nathan why is Daddy hitting Mommy"? I asked with tears streaming down my face " Go to sleep Emma everything will be fine in the morning "Nathan tucked me in , gave me a peck on my forehead and left the room. I couldn't sleep, I could hear my dad yelling and cursing my mom from downstairs, I could hear things breaking and crashing ,I held my stuffed bunny so tight and tried to block my ears from hearing the noise. It took a while but I finally slept off. ***** My Dad wasn't always like this, he was nice, gentle and a loving Dad, I always awaited his arrival from work because he always bought me toys and played with me. One day he just changed, the dad I loved and admired was gone. He started coming home late at night, drinking and yelling at everyone at home. I became scared of my Dad, the was always  tension and fear whenever he was around. *** Nathan and I both attended wood park High which was miles away from home, so we usually took the school bus. The school bell rang I went happily to go and look for Nathan so we could go home together. I was walking down the hallway towards Nathans class when I heard him call me from behind,I turned around and saw him with a group of his friends "Hey Emma "he said I have to stay back with my friends we have plans. " but we always go home together "I gave him a sad look and walked away towards the bus. " sorry Emma I'll make it up to you" *** When I got home the front door was already open and my mom wasn't usually back this early so it had to be my Dad. I stepped in and tried to enter my room as quietly as I could so that he wouldn't know I was around. Well that didn't work out well. "Emma is that you"? I heard my Dad call from the kitchen " y y yes Sir " I stammered. "Come here little girl" My legs began to shake as I moved towards the kitchen. I saw my Dad sitting on the counter with a big bottle of what I guess was beer on his hands. His eyes seemed glossy and drift around the room, his jaws were hanging slacked, letting his mouth hang open ever so slightly. I stood in front of the door which was a little bit far away from were he was sitting. He got down from the counter and started stumbling towards me holding the kitchen furniture to keep him from falling over, he stopped in front of me and looked down grabbing my right hand so tight. I cried in pain as he dragged me out of the kitchen to his room,I tried to resist by hitting him and screaming but he slapped me hard across the face and held his hand against my mouth. I struggled to get away but I was just a powerless child , I couldn't resist any longer , I became numb and my Dad sexually assaulted me. "Do not tell anyone about this or your dear brother will pay for it" I was an 11 year old girl who loved her brother so much so I had no choice but to promise not to tell anyone.
