His and hers

Chapter 4

[Serena]

I was laying on the side of the pool trying to catch my breath. My heart pounded in my chest and it felt like the world had stopped. Minutes went by and I had finally caught my breath. Then it hit me. Alex had turned into a wolf. I sat up so quickly in search of him. He was standing at my feet watching me in silence. I screamed and moved back until my back hit the wall. He whimpered and pressed himself into the floor. I made eye contact with him and slowly I saw him inching towards me. Neither one of us broke eye contact. Eventually he was laying in front of me. I hesitating hovered my hand near his head. He slowly moved his head up to reach my hand. His thick fur was surprisingly soft and I found myself stroking him. He purred and I turned away from him in order to hold in my laugh. He was immediately on his feet and sniffing me. He started l*****g my face and I finally let out my laugh. He growled quietly and laid back down. “Mr big bad wolf just purred” I chuckled. He just huffed at me, but I could see relief in his eyes. “Omg. Dad is going to kill me!” I shrilled as I looked outside the glass door and saw that it was pitch black. I jumped up and started to walk to the door, but before I could even get to it he was growling in front of me. I could tell that his whole demeanour had changed. Alex stood with an aggressive stance and black eyes. He snarled at me and I unconsciously took a few steps backwards and that seemed to calm him a bit. “A-Alex you need to chill. Y-your scaring me” I muttered. This seemed to take him out of his trance and he bounded over to me with his tail wagging. I let out a sigh of relief and muttered “ I guess I am not leaving tonight.” I walked towards a lounger and sat down with Alex right behind me. I was shivering as I was still wet from my accident in the pool. As soon as Alex noticed me being cold he jumped onto the lounger and laid on top of me, with his face nestled in the crook of my neck. “Your so heavy and so warm” I said while snuggling into him. He purred again and I wrapped my arms around him. That is how we both fell asleep.

I woke up and I was still laying on top of Serena, but this time as a n***d human. I slowly peeled myself away from her and opened a cupboard to reveal some of my clothes that I kept spare. I quickly shrugged them on as I was eager to be back in my mate’s arms. When I walked back to join her she was awake. “Stay away from me” she stated and I stopped, my heart felt like it had crumbled to pieces. 

“That wasn’t how you acted last night” I managed to say without showing the hurt I was feeling. 

“Yes because you turned into a f*****g wolf, Alex. What was I meant to do? You looked like you was going to eat me when I even stepped towards the door” she sneered at me.

“I can explain everything.”

“No. I don’t want to hear it now. Just give me time. You can explain it later. Oh and next time you plan on turning into a f*****g predator, give me a heads up, you know bestie to bestie” she said while exiting the pool house. I stood rooted to the spot watching my mate leave. *Don’t let mate leave* Ryder growled. I ignored him and made my way to the pack house. I knew that I would have to visit her later because I can barely function without her near me.
