Chapter 8

[Alex]

We walked away and I pulled her close to me. “I was so close to ripping their heads off. You never told me you were friends with three f*****g males. You are MINE” I growled lowly. She flinched slightly and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and then said “ they are only friends. Once you get used to them you will love them.” I inhaled her beautiful floral scent and relaxed. I wish I hadn’t been away last month. Then it would still be just us two. As I walked down the corridor, I noticed a lot of girls staring at me with smiles on their face. I could see Serena was jealous and I teased “ do I really look that good?”

“You have had a massive glow up. I mean look at your abs and you biceps” she replied while blushing.

“Don’t worry. I only have eyes for you” I told her truthfully and mentally I was so happy that she thinks I look good. I guess werewolf genes are quite good for physical attraction. “Hey Alex! Football tryouts tonight. You should come” the most popular boy in the school said. I looked over at Serena and she nodded with a huge grin on her face. “Definitely, I will see you there” I shouted back. “Omg, I have always wanted to play on the school football team, but no one would let me because I was a nerd” I whispered to her as we walked into class.

“I’m so proud of you” was the last thing she said as we separated to sit in our seats. I didn’t realise how hard it was to concentrate on the lesson when she was in the room. All I could do was look at her in awe. She kept looking at me with confusion before quickly writing down things from the board. When we were finished with the lesson, I looked down at my plain piece of paper and frowned. I didn’t know what had just happened in that past hour. I was so obsessed with her that I couldn’t focus on anything else. We left the class to go to lunch and she handed me a piece of paper with all the class notes on it, saying “I wrote two, it didn’t look like you did anything other than stare.” I blushed and she led me to the canteen, only leaving my side when she saw her friends. I clenched my teeth and followed her. We got our food and sat together and then Harvey said to me “ so Alex I heard that you were asked to tryout for the football team. That is so cool.”

“Thanks. How did you know?” I replied with no emotion.

“You are the talk of the school. All the girls want you. Apparently you went off as a nerd and came back as a god” Jared said and I smirked at Serena who was focused on her food. I placed a comforting hand on her thigh and ate all my food while the others, including Serena, bickered. “So I am going to be watching Alex play in a bit. Do you guys want to join me?” Serena asked the others. They all agreed and I gave her a frustrated look to which she just smiled at me. We all walked to the field and Serena gave me a hug and said “ don’t be too good. We both know you don’t know how fast or strong you are. I am just there if you need me.”

“I just have to remember to take it easy. Don’t get too close to them” I said and gave her a peck on her lips. She blushed and walked to join the others in the stand. I watched her sit down and give me a big thumbs up before turning to the field.

I was so good that I didn’t even have to try. I scored three times and each time Serena and her friends jumped up and shouted, but my eyes were on her the entire time. On the third time, she hugged Jared and my wolf almost surfaced. Ten minutes later, it was announced that I was on the team. I smiled and looked at Serena. She said “ I am so proud of you” knowing that I would hear with my wolf hearing. 

After practice, Serena ran over and jumped into my arms. I chuckled and held her. “Well done” she sighed and then moved back when the boys came through.     They all wished me well and then Marshall asked to speak with Serena alone. She looked at me once and then followed him out of the room. I growled lowly and listened in to their conversation. “I want you to know that I like you a lot” Marshall said to her and I was barely controlling the urge to go and kill him. *Go and get our mate now. She is OUR mate. Cut his tongue out. Rip his head off*Ryder growled viciously. I ignored him in time to hear her reply. “Look Marshall, I really love being friends with you and I don’t want to ruin that. Alex and I were starting to get closer and I don’t want to ruin that either” she replied to me. I took a deep sigh and then I realised that Jared and Harvey were staring at me, having probably asked me something. Just then, Serena and Alex came back in. They were both smiling and acting normal so I gathered that he wasn’t upset with her.
