Chapter 14

856 Words
I expected Tristan to grab or do something to Jake, but I could only stand there watching in as state of shock as Tristan stood centimeters in front of Jake not laying one finger on him. His fists were clenched as Tristan, looked at Jake who only stared up at Tristan. I could see some fear on Jake face. My mate inhaled long and slowly, his action could be heard across the clearing, it was as if my pack weren't here. "Mine" Tristan growled calmly. I could see his muscles working as he had trouble restraining himself from beating the wolf in front him. I got goosebumps. Where is this going?  "Mine" he repeated slowly. "She is mine. Mine and only mine. If I ever see you or any other male touch or associate with my Mate like that again I can't say my actions will be restrained." The last part came out as a growl, his voice raised not only give the message to Jake, but all of the wolves surrounding us. By now my face was on fire, but my wolf could only growl in satisfaction as our Mate so publicly stated us as his. "Understand pup?" I watched cautiously as Jake tensed at the word pup and I mentally prayed Jake wouldn't do anything to provoke the still angry Tristan who was in front of him. With a slow nod, Jake took a hesitant step back, face a little shaken, before hanging his head and stiffly moving a safe distance away. Although Jake didn't even spare a glance my way, I could tell he was clearly irritated. I was unsure of what to do. Should I go after Jake? Should I stay with my Mate? I was confused. I decided to stay back, because I knew if I didn't stay back then this problem will going to become a big issue. Slowly I looked at my pack, whose faces were taken back by what they just see. I could see Alpha Mike staring towards us, face hard. I knew Tristan was still mad, but he briefly closed his eyes, soft rumbles escaping his chest as he tried to regain control of himself. Opening them, he stood to face Alpha Mike who was now standing at a close distance away. Mike tilted his head back slightly as he examined Tristan, his face unreadable. "Alpha Tristan" Mike addressed. He gradually lowered his head in act of acknowledgement. "Welcome, I take it you had a safe journey?" Tristan gave nothing away as he gave a barely unidentifiable nod and a short"yes". I was still rooted to the spot, relishing the sound of my Mate deep voice. I still couldn't believe my Mate, the one I had once dreamed of was standing a few feet away. I pushed aside my wolf distraction---g thoughts that she was projecting, the mental images of the things we could do with Tristan. My face flushed at the cheeky thoughts and refocused my attention on the two Alphas that were now starting to amble towards the make shift stage. It was then as my eyes locked onto my father for the first time today, in this ceremony that I realized the hard look he was trying to compose as he watched my Mate every move. I really couldn't blame my dad. My My Mate father killed my dad Mate. I was torn in between my dad and my Mate. It soon came to my concern that I was still standing like a fool unmoving, when it was clear that the reason why Tristan was here was getting started. I hastily moved to a seat at the back of the crowd and sat down as Alpha Mike stood at the front of the stage, the rest of the higher ranking wolves behind him. I peek at Tristan, he stood rigid, both fists and jaw clenched as he gazed unmoving out into the trees behind me. I could feel a mix of disconnected emotions run through me, my chest tightened as I realized who they belonged to. I watch Alpha Mike as he cleared his throat, getting the attention of the few conversing people who were quick to snap theirs mouths shut. I noticed that Mike seemed a little uncomfortable as his stormy eyes roamed the crowd before finally landing on me. His expression was weird and I sat into my seat, not liking the look that Mike gave it to me. As Mike began to talk in his usual Alpha voice, droning on about something I know I should be paying attention to but doing the exact opposite. How could I focus on anything else when my Mate was standing in perfect view, looking so...perfect. I had to bite my lip as my wolf and I envisaged the feel of Tristan soft black hair that fell over his forehead, tickling his lashes beneath our fingers. The feeling of being wrapped up in his strong arms. Just by thinking about it was making me go crazy. -------- Sorry guys, today I write short, but tomorrow I will try my best to write some more.
