The chains extending from the other mirrors followed her with an ominous clinking hiss before he sealed the portal shut. With tears in his eyes that were now the color of blue ice, Darious turned away from the mirrors just as the sky opened up in a downpour as if joining in his sadness. He felt the carousel begin to slow down but he needed more time. He extended his power toward the machinery, keeping it going so he could save the few children that had fallen into the hell hag’s trap. Flowing effortlessly through the rows of children, Darious slipped from one to the next, whispering his fingers over the cheeks of those asleep and awakening them from their nightmares. Many of the children reached out to touch him and he let them. With each touch and each child that awoke… his pain slowly
