Chapter 3-Betrayal

Father was taken last night by two men that looked like they killed for a living.I’ve not been able to sleep since those two men broke into our house and took our father.

I’ve been staring at the front door for hours hoping that dad would just stroll in and tell us that he’s fine.The men that took dad didn’t tell us why they were taking him or where they were taking him too.

I knew that dad had been gambling a lot and I always wondered where he got the money he used to continue gambling since I stopped giving him money a long time ago.what if he got into trouble with some rich men he played with at that casino.

Lord!!My thoughts were spiraling,I’ll just dress up and go look for him at the casino or asks questions,maybe someone there at least would know my father and explain to me why he was taken by strange men.

As I was about to go to my room,I heard knocks on the door

“Dad,dad is back”I thought

I ran to open the door and yes my dad was here but he was also with those two men that came to take him last night.

“Dad are you okay,did they hurt you”i asked while searching his body for bruises

“Marie where’s your sister”he asked

“She stepped out to buy some sausages at the grocery store,she should be back soon”

“Dad is something wrong,who are these men and what do they want”I asked frantically

He looked at me and I could see that his eyes were bloodshot which means that he had been crying for a long time.something wasn’t right and I was starting to feel scared.

I needed to find my phone and call Juliet and tell her to not come home till I tell her too but as I was about to reach my phone,I heard knocks on the door

“No,No she’s back”

“Juliet run,don’t come into the house”I started screaming at the top of my lungs

The men immediate dashed out and ran after her,I knew they’d get her,Juliet had never been good at running.

“Don’t touch me you bastards,let me go”she screamed

“Marie what’s happening”she said.she looked terrified

“This is taking too much time,so I’m going to only say this once so I need you to listen up”one of the armed men said

“Your father stole a lot of money from our boss and he has agreed to give you guys up till he’s able to pay his debt,so you guys are coming with us.You don’t have to pack anything,everything you need will be provided for”he said

Juliet and I both turned to look out our dad and his head was bent and he was weeping

“Dad tell me this isn’t true”Juliet screamed

“You selfish selfish man,you never cared or took care of us and now you sell us off to some strange rich man,what if he hurt us??”Juliet screamed.You are despicable.

I couldn’t say anything,I was speechless and if I opened my mouth to say anything,I would literally crumble on the floor.

How could he do this to us,how could he sell us off like some property??Did he not care that I wouldn’t be able to pursue an internship at my dream hospitals in New York City and pursuing my dream on becoming on a nurse??,that he’s literally ruining i and Juliet’s life.

“I’m so s-s-orry”he sobbed.”I’ll get the money I promise,I’ll come get you guys back”

“As much as I’m enjoying this family drama,I unfortunately do not have time for this,our boss is waiting for us”one of the men said with a hint of irritation in his tone.

“Please,do you have to take us,i promise we’ll get the money,please don’t take us”i pleaded

“We already made a deal with your father,I’m sorry miss but you and your sister are coming with us”

I knew my father wasn’t perfect but I never thought he’d be this cruel.He had never lifted a finger to help bring food home,I was the one that sacrificed everything for this family and in one day he destroys everything I worked hard for.

“Can you at least let us take some things with us”i asked one of the men that looked like he was the one in charge.

“You have five minutes”he said

I took Juliet’s arm and took us to my room,I had no intention of packing anything or letting Juliet go with these scary looking men.

“When we step outside,I’m going to try to distract them and I’ll need you to run as fast as you can”i said to Juliet

“No,No I can’t leave you alone with these men”Juliet said.I can’t survive without you,please don’t make me do this.

“Please Juliet,I won’t be able to live with myself if anything happens to you,just go to a friends place and keep a low profile till I find a way to get us out of this mess”

“Okay”she sniffed

“I love you okay”

The men started banging on the door and I just put a lot of random stuff in a bag and we both stepped out of the room.

I glanced at my dad for the last time as the men led us out.when we got to limo, I looked at Juliet signaling that it was time to get ready to run then I bit the arm of the man holding me and then kicked the other balls of the other man holding Juliet and he screamed in pain

“Juliet run”!!!

She turned and started to run and the man I bit on his arm started pursuing her,I was so focused on Juliet that I didn’t see when the other man poured something on a rag and pressed it against my nose,the last thing I see is Juliet falling and everything goes black.
