Undefeated Mother

13. Naomi

“You have got to be kidding me” I puffed as I saw Kilian smirking at me. “What are you doing here?” I demanded to know.  Now I knew why Estrid was furious, images flashed in front of me. Violet’s voice announcing she’s the Luna of Marble Pack.

“I am helping this new pack and making alliance” he stood up and walked behind me making me turn away from Alex and face my Daughters.  

“You don’t help, you only take.” I snapped back; I was referring to him taking our son away from me.

“I want to help this Pack as they are my neighbouring Pack” . He was right Montgomery was between New Orleans and South Carolina.

“You already have a sister pack; Stonecross will double up on the security. You don’t need Dark Shade”. 

“Lucas’ Pack is only starting Dark Shade is already established” I saw Lily lift her head up behind Kilian and listen more intensely. The mention of Lucas’ name must have hit a nerve.  I knew how Lucas felt about her but I didn’t get a chance to ask Lily what happened between them two four years ago.

“Both of you stop!” Alex shouted making us both turn around.  “We need all the help we can get. Alpha Kilian I would really use your help. The Elders require another set of warriors and we cannot support ourselves without them, which means we need the training the Daughters can provide”. Alex slumped down and in his chair and started rubbing his head. I couldn’t comprehend what he just said. I looked up at Kilian and I saw the same confusion on his face.

“Sorry, did you just say, the Elders?” I asked.

“When we established as a Pack, we had to provide warriors for the Elders. Since we started they kept asking for more. Now we have no warriors left”.

 I didn’t realise the amount of problems this pack was in; I only came here to find Francis’ mate and to help a new pack out. Alex’s despair made me want to stay here and help in any way I could, but in that moment I didn’t know what I could say.

We were disturbed by a knock on the door, a small woman appeared and scanned the room. Her small fingers coiled onto the door frame and she was anxious to come in. When her eyes settled on me a massive smile appeared on her face. She looked like she was relieved and has been waiting for me her whole life.

“Naomi come in, I thought you would be gone by now” Alex spoke out.

When she came in I realised she was actually my age, but she looked malnourished and petite. Her long blonde hair matched Alex’s and she looked like his sister.

“I’m nearly packed but I heard that the Daughters are here and….” she looked up at me and smiled again “ and I always wanted to meet you”. She had an innocent smile on her face and held her hand out for me to shake it.

“Nice to meet you, but how did you know who I was?” I asked confused.

“I trained with one of the soldiers from Golden Forest Pack. You trained them three years ago and I wanted to know everything you taught them”. Her simple smile was suddenly replaced with a shattered face. “Anyway, I need to go now. It was lovely to meet you” she looked at my armour and gave me a quick hug, something I wasn’t expecting. Why was everyone suddenly hugging me?  She left the room shutting the door behind her.

“She is the last soldier to leave Dark Shade” Alex said, turning our attention to him. “My little sister sacrificing herself for the Elders” Kilian’s breathing hitched.

“Why is she sacrificing herself” Kilian emphasised the word sacrifice.

“She always wanted to be a warrior; this is her only chance. She couldn’t be a Daughter as… your own Mother, Francesca turned her away as soon as she found out she is a wolf”.

My mother was the reason, Naomi couldn’t fulfil her dreams, she was the reason Francis didn’t know about us, his wolf might be dead and it was all her fault. I always looked up to her, I wanted to be strong like her, be a great leader. I wanted to have the control that she had but sitting here I realised I want the opposite. I don’t want to be anything like her. 

“We need to provide warriors to the Elders and I have no money. My pack is what is left over from rogues and the Packs from the North that have been hunted and killed. They are weak and they are scared of the enemy that is hunting them. So, what is the plan?” Alex asked.

“It’s your destiny” I heard Sarah’s voice among several that appeared in my head.

“They are coming” Francis’ witch appeared among other.

“Help me”.

“Help me”  voices screamed in my head.

“They’re coming” The warning stood out.

“We will help you. It’s a coincidence that the packs are being attacked and the Elders are calling for warriors from New Packs. The witches are being hunted and warning people about “something”. Whatever it is we need to be prepared. I think the Elders are weakening Packs that are still loyal to them” I exclaimed.

“We?” Kilian asked.

“Yes, we! You just said you need an alliance. Do you want an alliance with a weak Pack? Francis came to me for a reason. Maybe this is it. Alex we will help you. Any rogues we find we will send them here. I will also send ten Daughters to help you train them up. Kilian I will send some Daughters to Stonecross to train and help them establish. Everyone happy?” I scanned the room asking for cooperation.

“Yes Mother” all five Daughters replied. I raised my eyebrow at Alex and Kilian.

“That’s perfect thank you Mother. I will never forget your help. Now if you don’t mind,  I need to see Naomi off. I will be back shortly” Alex excused himself and left the room . I could feel the tension between Kilian and myself, I had to leave that situation, as quickly as I could.

“I’ll come with you” I knew it was a pathetic excuse but I had to leave.

From the top of the stairs, I was looking over to Alex who was giving his little sister a hug. She got into the car and the Omegas started packing her bags into the car. From the corner of my eye, I saw Francis walking up to me. He had his fists balled up and he looked ready to kill.

“Hey are you okay?” I asked.

“I keep hearing noises in my head and I think I fainted twice. The smell of wolves is getting worse I need to get out of here” he was angry and was pacing around me.

“It’s okay we are ready to leave anyway?” I saw Alex waving at the car as Naomi drove away.

Francis looked around me and had a confused face on. “What’s that smell? It smells like… roses”.

Ohh Goddess, Naomi hugged me! He can smell her on me she as his mate and she’s leaving him without knowing!
