Chapter Twelve

[Kat's P.O.V] The Luna Ceremony came quicker than I had expected. It was a day for any challengers- anyone who thought they would be a better Luna to challenge me. I was unprepared, pacing in the room I had been staying in for months. Mia had left the pack, and Alpha Tanner had accepted her into his pack. He had claimed it was a trade, an eye for an eye. She had been allowed to join, which she happily did—leaving behind a miserable Elias. I hadn't seen him since she left, and my wolf didn't like it. I was fated to be with him; it was like I didn't even exist. But that would all change tonight. I would be Luna, and I would be able to stand next to Elias and finally be his equal. Kit had her mind set on taking on any challengers. She was ready. Everyone was outside before I dared to come out. With a sigh, I join them, pulling the door shut behind me. The sudden noise draws a pair of emerald green eyes toward me, Elias. He was standing in front of his pack, adorned in a tight shirt that exposed his muscular physique and a pair of dark blue jeans. Holy hell, this man was a God. "The Luna Ceremony will begin when the full moon is at its highest. Any challengers will challenge Kat before it takes place. If a female is to beat her, they will take her place as Luna beside me." Elias says. Females began to shift in line, and a tall female with snowy white hair steps forward. Her hazel eyes blaze in a challenge, and she regards me coldly. "The females have selected me to challenge Kat," She says, holding my gaze, a snarl curling the edge of her lips. "Very well," Elias says, acknowledging the challenge. "I can't say much, but the females have chosen who they believe should be Luna. Victoria strikes to the underbelly, so watch for her claws," he says, his eyes staring off into where he thinks I am. I'm surprised that he even talks to me. The kiss seemed like forever ago, and I wanted nothing more than to slam my lips again into his. But, instead, I shake my head in annoyance. This wasn't the time nor the place. I refocus on the female wolf in front of me. My wolf let out a snarl; she was angry that the females didn't believe in me. My eyes meet Victoria's, and she raises one perfect eyebrow. "The winner will become Luna, and the weaker wolf will submit before the fight is over." I glare at this female wolf, and I allow my wolf to take over. My wolf, however, was a cold-blooded murderer when it came to challengers, and I don't think she would stop even after this woman submitted. Victoria launched herself at me, and my wolf sidestepped her, shoving her tall frame away. "Submit," she snarls, her hair falling over her face. She looked vicious. My gaze watches her feet, and she's striking from the left side, her claws barely grazing my stomach. "Hell no," my gruff voice answers, my hand closing around her neck, my strength slamming her to the ground. She yips in pain, but she sweeps her feet, tripping me. She buries her teeth into my arm, and my claws dig into her face. I slam my foot into her side, and she screams before attacking me again. I had, had enough of this stupid wolf. I overpower her slamming my fist into her face. I don't think about it as my fist slam into her. Left Right Left Right. The rhythm of it soothed me, my adrenaline pumping. "Kat," Elias snarls, yanking me away from the unconscious female. "You won; she submitted," he says, his chest heaving, his eyes wide. His hands touch my shoulders, and my mind turns dirty for a moment. I imagine his lips capturing mine, his hands unbuttoning my pants. I shake my head annoyed; why was I thinking about that after I almost beat a woman to death? The pack watches me with unfamiliar emotions. Fear was evident in the way they cast their eyes down. A female wolf was holding Victoria, her swollen, beaten face against her shoulder. Elias didn't say anything. His chest was heaving, and he looked scared. I shook my head, grasping her shoulder. It was the least I could do. I help her to the pack doctor, and she looks at me with something I couldn't read. A younger male walks into the room, his milky white eyes sweeping the room. "Alpha," He says, lowering his head in submission. His fingers probe Victoria's face softly. "She'll be alright. She's just got a concussion and some mild injuries. Her wolf will heal her in no time." I sigh softly. I can't believe I had lost control like that. Elias turns toward me before he answers. "Let's let Axel treat her wounds." I allow Elias to pull me away from the hurt wolf. I couldn't say much, but my mind kept spiraling back to how I had almost killed her. I lost control once again. My wolf was so much more of a killer than I could believe. Kit only ever longed for one thing, a mate. Elias denying us time and time again was making me crazy, driving my wolf crazy. I snap my eyes toward Elias, my hands closing into fists. I was angry. "This is your fault," I scream at him, shoving a finger harshly into his chest. He seems taken aback before he's angry. "How the hell is it my fault?" he growls. "If you would accept me as your mate, my wolf wouldn't feel the need to assert dominance over every wolf she sees. You're driving me crazy. You can accept me as your mate, or I'm rejecting your ass." So I say, blinded by my rage.
