Chapter Eleven

[Kat's P.O.V] Olivia follows the both of us, grumbling every step of the way. "Guys, I don't think we should be doing this. Eli is going to kill me," she whimpers, tossing a glance over her shoulder. "He's gotta get through me first," I say reassuringly. I was optimistic I could take on Elias if I had to. "And me," Mia says, pointing a finger straight at her chest. I giggle, the wind feeling great on my flushed skin. Kit wanted out, she pushed on the walls, and I allowed her to take control. I shift, getting both of their attention. "Wow, your wolf is beautiful," Olivia says, putting a hand on my reddish coat. I shuffle nervously. I wasn't used to people touching me in my wolf form. Olivia and Mia follow suit, quickly changing into similarly coated wolves, a dark brown shade. Olivia was a much slimmer wolf; my figure easily towered over hers. Mia slinked into line next to me, her head barely grazing past my broadened shoulders, her wolf casting nervous glances my way. I would be worried, too. She didn't know what my wolf would do or what it could do to her. I had no control over her. Kit had no interest in the wolves that stood before her. She only had one thing on her mind. Elias. She didn't like that he was out there fighting without her. So I take off on Elias' trail, following the path I had taken earlier. This time, however, I had two wolves on my heel. The familiar glow of the fire stood before me, and I knew Elias had to be close. Kit yips happily as she catches sight of Elias. He stood in a group, his back toward me, motioning distractedly at the table. Members of the pack hung on every word, and I knew he was planning his strategy on what he wanted to do to my old pack. I draw closer, ignoring the nudging of Olivia beside me. Elias tenses before he turns on me. He takes in a deep breath, his nostrils flaring. "Kat? Mia? Olivia?" He questions. Olivia whimpers beside me softly, bowing her head down to the ground, a sign of submission. Mia, however, was distractedly sniffing the air. She doesn't seem to be paying Elias any mind as she runs straight past him. Elias's head whips in Mia's direction, and I realize what's happening. Mia is running directly for my old pack. I don't hesitate to follow behind her. What was she thinking? Running straight into a battlefield, one she knew we were currently at war with. Much to my surprise, a familiar sandy brown wolf stood, nose to the air. It was Daniel. Mia darts straight for him, and I let out a warning growl. What was she doing? Her petite frame glides right underneath him. She was rubbing her scent on him and vice versa. Elias doesn't hesitate and plows right into a distracted Daniel. He yips in confusion, knocking Mia out of the way. Elias puffs himself bigger, allowing his canines to be seen. Beta Daniel follows suit, baring equally sharp teeth. Mia whines softly, rolling belly up in front of both wolves. Daniel stops and glances down at Mia. Something was off about the two of them, and I suddenly realized. They were mates. I step toward the three in front of me and allow my wolf's body to glide on Elias'. I nudge his side with my head, hoping he will take the hint. He, however, was paying no attention to me. Kit watches Elias turn, his retreating form the only thing she could see. She could sense something wrong, and it didn't take a genius to figure out what. She trots behind him, following him. When we get back to camp, he shifts, turning toward Kit. "Go away," he mutters, his green eyes shining brightly in the moonlight. I couldn't focus on anything he was saying. I was too distracted by his naked form. He mutters darkly before pulling on the pair of shorts on the bench next to him. I can't say anything in my wolf form, so I shift as well. My face burns as I realize I am completely naked, but it isn't like he could see me. My eyes fall on the same pile of shorts he had just taken from. I sigh in relief and see a matching shirt. "Please talk to me," I whisper, reaching out to touch his cheek. "I don't want you, Kat. Don't you understand that?" He snaps at me, his eyes ablaze. "That's not true," I say, shaking my head in disbelief. "It is," he mutters, turning away from me. I don't let him get away that easily. I dart forward, sliding my arms around his larger form. He seems taken aback at first before he pulls me in tighter, his nose nuzzling my neck. "Just let me love you," I whisper, clutching him tighter. I pull back, allowing myself to take a closer look at him. He was so goddamn handsome. My fingers brush his chiseled jaw, and his hands pull me tighter to him. Everything around me faded as I stared at this strong male in front of me. Something shifts in the air, and I smash my lips against his. Electricity shoots through my body, and it's nothing I have ever felt. His hands leave a fiery trail down my arms before he shoves me away from him. "Elias," I whimper, but he had already turned away from me, leaving me forgotten and alone. Why couldn't he love me? He wanted to help me initially, and now he wanted absolutely nothing to do with me. What could I do to get this wolf to love me?
