It had been two weeks. She was bruised, he had a laceration on his leg, and many cuts on his body. They were both treated horribly. As they went back to their tent, The boy pulled her aside. “We have to get out of here. Now.” They started making a plan as they were inside their tent. It was along the lines of: Michael would distract the guards as Sonja ran to the armory. She would get whatever she could so they could escape. Then they would head east. Sonja nodded, before wincing in pain. “Damn...This really hurts.” She said, holding her arm gingerly. “Better plan..you run to the armory...I’ll distract them.” Michael frowned. It won’t work… Trust me… We’re doing it the original way tonight.” Sonja nodded, and headed back into their tent to get ready. She had taken off her jacket and her hair was once again back into a ponytail. She grabbed what she needed, and snuck off towards the armory. Michael went towards the center of the camp and started shouting, dancing around calling all attention to himself. Sonja bolted towards the armory, immediately grabbing two AK-47s, her crossbow, Michael’s pistol, a plain dagger, what appeared to be a medieval dagger with dragons on it, Michael’s machete and an extra clip for each of the AKs, plus extra arrows. She ran out towards Michael, shooting two people in the legs, then throwing him stuff. The two starting firing at anyone who came near them. There was a loud sound. Almost an explosion. It had come from a shotgun. However, no one had one. Michael scanned the camp, before seeing someone up on a hill, firing at people trying to enter the armory. Sonja spun around accidentally shooting Michael in the side. He screamed in pain but they kept shooting. They then dropped their rifles and ran towards the exit. “SORRY!” Sonja screamed at her partner over the sound of gunfire. “It’s…. Fine” He responded, breathing heavily as they found a car. Michael jumped into the driver’s seat as Sonja went over to the passenger side. “You sure?” She asked. “Yeah…” He responded as he turned the key and floored it, creating a cloud of dust behind them.”WOOH!’ Michael responded joyfully. “We made it!” Sonja smiled, something she hadn"t done in a long time. The pair continued down the road they were on for quite a while. Soon they were out of gas. “Well...shit.” Michael muttered, shaking his head as he exited the car. “Time to walk.” The two travelers walked slowly down the road. Sonja had her crossbow ready, however it was hard as they were both in pain. “How’s your uh….side...doing?” Sonja asked, attempting to apologize for accidentally shooting her friend. The pair had been walking for hours, surprisingly not stumbling upon any zombies. They soon realized that they were on a path...And this path had to lead somewhere. As they wont over the hill they realized that there was a house below. Sonja started running down the hill with Michael following her, clutching his side. Michael arrived at the door first and attempted to open it. “It won"t open” Michael said through gritted teeth, attempting to put all of his strength into trying. Sonja giggled. “Turn the knob silly.” Michael stared at the metal object before turning it, realizing that it was open. Michael blushed realizing he should have tried that first and continued to open the door. Sonja knocked on the wall, attempting to lure out any zombies that could be inside. They didn"t hear anyone growling, or rather anything so they entered, ready. Sonja’s crossbow was handed to Michael so he could use it. The two made their way through the house and continued searching each room, until they knew that there was nothing inside. “Woah!! Look outside!” Sonja said as she had pulled open the curtains. “Is that a barn?” Michael asked, questionably. “I think so.” Sonja said, pausing. “We should check it out tomorrow...Let"s get an actual good sleep.” She smiled crawling into the bed. Michael laughed and plopped down on the floor. “What are you doing?” Sonja asked as Michael looked up. “Going to sleep.” “No you’re not.” “Yeah…” “No...come up here...You don’t need to sleep on the floor...We both need it.” The next morning the pair woke up to a noise. It was the sound of someone slamming the door. They both felt rested but this woke them from that state. “What do you think it is?” Michael asked. Sonja had a slight look of worry on her face. “Maybe it"s just the wind.”The two walked down the stair carefully, weapons ready just to be sure. They searched the bottom floor of the house, making sure that it wasn"t a zombie, before clarifying -hopefully- it was the wind. The two went outside, to go check out the barn. Sonja went around before seeing a door that looked as if it were a garage. “Hey Michael get over here!” She shouted, her companion running over. “What?” “This.” Sonja said, getting ready to open the door. “Three..Two…One.” Sonja flung open the door, revealing two Four Wheelers, or ATVs, inside. “Woah!!!” Michael said, running in. There was one that held two people and had a steering wheel and a flatbed. While the other could hold two...maybe three people and steered like a motorcycle. “I want this one!” Sonja said jumping onto the motorcycle-esque one. “Fine...I guess I’ll use that one to clean up around here...Maybe build a fence to stop the zombies from getting in.” The two closed the garage and went into the barn, weary of anything inside. There were...Sadly no animals inside. Well living ones anyway. There were dead carcasses of a few chickens, and the skeleton of a cow. “Thats...disappointing.” Michael said saddened. “Don’t worry mate, there’s probably some weapons or somethin inside here!” Sonja said gleefully as she pulled a rifle out from behind a bunch of wood. “Hows this?” She asked handing it to Michael. Michael smiled taking it as the kept looking, finding: a pitchfork, a farmer’s wide brimmed hat, a shotgun, shotgun shells and some arrows. “Huh...I guess he musta had a bow or something.” Sonja said, taking the arrows for herself. Sonja and Michael were about to head back when they heard something. “What was that?” Michael asked as Sonja readied her crossbow with one of the new arrows. “I don"t know...But it must have come from this barn...Maybe below us!” Sonja shouted, flinging open the door and running down towards the entrance to the garage. As Sonja entered there was a person, mask on his face that had a gun pointed at her. Sonja raised her hands dropping her crossbow as Michael came. Seeing the gun he dropped his raising his hands. “Who are you?” Michael asked. All of a sudden the figure lowered his gun, taking off his mask. “Tom??” Sonja asked, before realizing that it was in fact their friend. She ran over hugging him. “I...Thought you were dead.” “So you do care?” Tom asked, jokingly before returning the hug. Michael came over staring at Tom. “Hi…” Tom smiled, letting Sonja go, then hugging Michael. After the trio had caught up, they decided to assign different jobs, Sonja was going to go out hunting, Michael and Tom were going to create a fence around the area, so no zombies could get inside. As they headed to the barn, to take out the ATVs, Tom stepped in a hole, causing him to fall over, getting a laugh out of Michael and shock from Sonja. She helped him out of the hole and they successfully made it to the barn. Sonja took the one that drove like a motorcycle, turning the key, and starting it. “This is amazing!” The girl said, as she started driving it out of the barn. “I will be back later boys!” Sonja said, laughing slightly before driving off into the woods. Tom and Michael caught up for a bit, before finally deciding to create a ‘wall’ around the house and barn. They took the other four wheeler and started gather sticks, and branches sawing some as well. Michael started making holes for the wood to go in. As Tom finished cutting down smaller trees and loading them as best he could into the ATV before driving back to Michael. “Let’s get these in, then we’ll go inside I guess.” Tom said as Michael nodded, the two of them grunting to place the trees in. After two hours of the boys digging holes and places the trees, stick, branches, etc. As the final stick went in, they added the string and metal to it. As an “alarm” if zombies would get through. “There...Finally done.” Michael said glad, as he brushed his hands off heading towards the door. Tom in tow.
