The Night of Betrayal
The rain beat down heavily, drenching the courtyard of the Blood Moon Pack. Lightning flashed and Thunder rolled overhead as Amelia stumbled through the mud, her breath heavy and ragged, her chest burning with high fever. Blood oozed from the wound on her arm, staining her torn dress, but she didn't stop running until she reached the grand doors of the Alpha's mansion. Her heart was filled with desperate hope. I'm his future Luna. He's my mate. He will protect me. He loves me. He has to. She pushed the thick metal doors of the mansion open and staggered inside. The pack house was warm, filled with golden lights and laughter. For a moment, relief and hope flooded her until her eyes landed on the sight that shattered her world. There, on the Alpha majestic throne sat Damien, the man Moon Goddess had bound to her as her mate, his strong arms wrapped possessively around another woman as they locked in a passionate kiss, with each panting for breath and hands rumming through each other in a heat of passion and lust. Amelia froze, her stomach twisting. 'Damien?' Her voice cracked as hot tears blurred her vision. He looked up at her, his silver eyes cold and unrecognizable. 'You shouldn't be here, Amelia.' His words were detached and flat, sharp as a blade piercing through her already broken heart, shattering it completely. The woman in his lap smirked. Selena, her childhood best friend, was the one Amelia trusted more than anyone. Betrayal cut deeper than the wound on her arm. If her heart was previously shattered, now it would be completely crushed and grounded without room for repair. 'Why?' Amelia whispered, stumbling forward. 'You are my best friend... you're my mate, and I'm going to be your Luna'. Selena's laughter echoed in the hall down to the other parts of the mansion. ''LUNA? "Don't make me laugh. "Did you really think Dami would choose a weak little thing like you?'' You must be naive and stupid to imagine pathetic yourself like Luna'' she mocked. 'But I'm his... mate,' I could barely whisper to myself in self-denial and confusion at everything. Damien rose slowly, his tall frame radiating authority, and walked toward Amelia. For a heartbeat she prayed he would deny it, that this was a prank, a cruel sort of big misunderstanding. Instead, his words nailed the coffin, finally stopping her heartbeat. ''Amelia of Blood mood pack, Damien declared, his voice carrying the weight of the ALPHA'S command, ''I, Damien Blackwood, reject you as my mate and future Luna.'' The rejection hit like a thousand knives, ripping her soul. Her legs gave way as the mate bond snapped violently and shattered, leaving her hollow, desolate and empty as she desperately tried to catch her breath. ''No...'' she whispered, clutching her chest. Pain unlike anything she had ever known or experienced before surged through her veins. 'Damien, please .....' Selena's smile was vicious and devilish. ''He's mine now, Amelia. And as for you… You were never worthy or even qualified.'' Before Amelia could form words, three warriors rushed in and two rough hands seized her, dragging her away. Panic shot through her as she turned to Damien," What are you doing? take your hands off me. Damien pls help me pleaded!'' But Damien's eyes were cold like ice. He looked indifferent and didn't move. He didn't bother or care, he just signaled the warriors with his eyes a silent confirmation for them to take her away. Selena leaned close, her lips at Amelia's ear. 'Goodbye, bestie. Don't worry, I will take care of Damien and our unborn child as his Luna'' she whispered evilly. Amelia was dragged roughly out of the mansion down toward the woods. At first, she thought they were going to imprison her in the pack's dungeon, but they kept moving deeper into the woods, away from the pack. Fear gripped her as she tried to fight the warriors with her feeble hands. ''Where are you taking me? Please let me go'' she pleaded, trying to escape their graphs, but then a blade pierced through Amelia's chest. She gasped as her blood flooded, dyeing the ground red. She tried to breathe, but her lungs felt like hot coal had been feeding into them. She held her chest as the world tilted and blurred. The last thing she saw was the moon up in the sky. For some reason, it seems brighter today. Maybe it's bright to witness her betrayal and murder. As life slowly ebbed from her, the scenes of her life slowly played before her. Every scene where she begged for his love, where she cared for Selena, where she confided in her, every scene seems like a mockery of her pathetic short life. Was she stupid, naive and foolish? Yes she was. If only there was a second chance, she thought, as darkness took over. .... Silence Then ....light. Amelia's eyes opened, and she bolted upright, clutching her chest tightly. No Blade Stab No Blood. No pain. The soft chirping of birds greeted her ears and golden sunlight streamed through the small window of her childhood room. Her hands trembled as she touched the unmarked skin in her neck region. Her breath caught. She knew this place. She was seventeen again. Alive and well. Given a second chance. And this time she vowed, no one, neither Damien nor Selena, would go Scott free.
