Emma is teleported into what she guesses to be the past, as there are knights and Ladies riding around on/in horses and carriages. She wants to go home, but she isn't a scientist, she can't create a time machine (she barely passed chemistry with a C-) and she isn't sure how she got there in the first place. As she's wrecked with homesickness and depression, she is totally unaware of the advances of the toughest knight in Netherini, the upcoming King.
Aeradhor isn't like the other knights. He never jokes, doesn't have fun, and only drinks when his mood is less than distasteful- which is always. He's the best of the soldiers, but he's the worst of the knights. While his chivalry isn't completely lacking, and he is considered at least a little honorable, when the fair maiden known as Emma Brightly saves his life, he feels bound to be her keeper. Whether it was her beauty or little bravery that pulled at him, he can't decipher, what he does know is that she can't be on her own, not with her naivety, nor with the wicked King of the Fallen Lands awaited arrival.
