Chapter 12

1333 Words
Raina I still can't believe that I'm now walking down the aisles and waiting for me at the altar is the man I never thought I would marry, even in my dreams. Before, when I dreamed of getting married, Greg was the groom. Never did I think that someone else would be my groom. Close family members and friends of Evo's family are the only people invited to our wedding. On my side, only Daddy attended. Rina didn't attend because she didn't want to see me marrying the man she was supposed to marry. And of course, Minerva also didn't attend and just accompanied her daughter to console her. I couldn't help but feel nervous as I walked towards where Evo was standing. Is this excitement that I'm feeling right now? Am I excited for the new chapter of my life that I will face with Evo? I don't know. All I know is that it feels like horses are racing inside my chest with the speed of my heart's beating. Evo almost didn't blink while staring at me. I know, he is attracted to me. And I can't deny that I am also attracted to him. Although we don't love each other, perhaps the attraction between us is enough to make our relationship good. "Breath, Evo. Also, wipe your saliva. It's embarrassing. You're drooling while staring at your wife," Tom teased Evo in a low voice. I was already in front of Evo so I heard what Tom said to him. I discovered that Tom was not just his trusted bodyguard but also his best friend. It turns out Tom owns the security agency where Evo hired his mother's driver-bodyguard and even Pit. "Shut up, man," Evo snapped at Tom, who just laughed at him. "I will entrust to you my daughter, Evo. And I hope you fulfill your promise," Daddy said as he handed me over to Evo. His face was serious and showed no sign of happiness. I couldn't help but feel sad because my father was not happy for me. For him, I was just a bargaining tool he could use to get what he wanted from Evo. It's so sad to have a parent like my dad who is not happy for his child. "I will," Evo answered my father seriously, then took my hand, and then we walked together towards the priest. "You're very beautiful, Raina," he whispered softly in my ear. "Thank you," I replied shyly to him. I immediately avoided looking at his face because I was embarrassed that he might notice I was nervous. We knelt together in front of the priest and listened to what he was saying. My mind was racing with thoughts of what could happen, so I was surprised when Evo nudged me. It was time for us to put rings on each other. "I now announce that Evo and Raina are officially husband and wife. You may kiss the bride now, Evo," the priest said with a smile to conclude the ceremony. I tightened my grip on the bouquet as Evo's face slowly lowered to kiss me. I thought he would give me a light kiss on the lips. I didn't expect that we would share a deep and breath-stealing kiss. If it weren't for the loud teasing of the people around us followed by applause, it seemed he had no intention of letting go of my lips. My face turned red with embarrassment, and I was catching my breath. I secretly glared at Evo. He had already stolen many kisses from me. He was taking advantage of the situation, where I couldn't resist him. "I can't help it. You're so beautiful and tempting," he said with a grin as if he could read my thoughts. I couldn't respond to what he said because the attendees of the ceremony started approaching us one by one to congratulate us. After the ceremony at the church, the guests went straight to the wedding reception at a five-star hotel owned by Evo's family. Evo comes from a wealthy and prominent family, so it was inevitable that the media would cover our wedding, from the church to the reception. I got tired of entertaining the guests, so after the celebration, I felt like a wilted vegetable when we finally got to Evo's house, which is now also my house. We have separate rooms because, as we agreed, we would only be married on paper and in front of other people. In short, we just married for the sake of our baby. Evo said that the household helpers can be trusted, so we don't need to pretend to be a lovely couple in front of them. Even though I was extremely tired and wanted to sleep right away, I needed to change out of my wedding dress first. Feeling lazy to move, I started to take off my wedding dress. Unfortunately, the zipper got stuck in the middle, making it unreachable for me to pull down. I kept trying to pull down the zipper of my wedding dress when suddenly the door opened, and Evo entered without any hesitation. "Let me help you." He approached me and continued pulling down the zipper. It felt like he was moving very slowly. It seemed as if he was deliberately slowing down the process of pulling the zipper down to prolong his time in the room. "Isn't it done yet?" I asked him impatiently. "It's done," he whispered behind my ear. I slightly flinched when his warm breath touched my ear. I felt a ticklish and pleasant sensation. Instead of leaving the room, Evo turned me around to face him. Then he grabbed me by the waist and pulled me closer to him. I couldn't help but swallow hard because of the closeness of our bodies. It was as if a spark was slowly igniting into a flame and spreading throughout my entire body. An invisible bell suddenly rang in my mind to warn me. I broke free from the sweet sensation that almost made me lose my mind. "What are you doing, Evo? And why did you suddenly enter my room without knocking?" I slightly pushed him but he didn't budge at all. It was as if I was pushing against a solid wall. Instead of answering my question, Evo lowered my wedding dress down to my chest without warning. My smooth shoulders were exposed to his eyes. I secretly cursed when his lips descended and kissed my shoulder up to my collarbone. He's seducing me. "Can I kiss you? Can I stay here tonight?" he asked me in a hoarse voice. It seemed like he was having difficulty breathing because of the desire he was trying to hold back. Yes. Desire. That's what I saw in his eyes. Desire only. "No." I gathered my strength and pushed him hard. As long as I can still control my own desire, I should push him away. We are not truly married, and one day, we will part ways, so it is only right that we respect our contract agreement. "We have a contract agreement, Evo. I hope you will respect our agreement and me." It was as if Evo was suddenly doused with cold water when he heard what I said. He stepped back away from me and took a deep breath. "Alright. I'm sorry. Let's respect our contract agreement," he said before turning around and leaving my room. I let out a deep sigh when Evo left. I almost gave in to him earlier. We are both attracted to each other and it's hard to resist. I don't know how long we can control ourselves. Our strong attraction to each other is not enough for us to do what normal couples do. There should be love. But in our case, I can't say that there is love between us. And if I give in to him, I'm sure I'll be the one who ends up miserable.
