Chapter 11

Raina "Madam wants to talk to you, Miss Cervantes." As soon as I came out of the building where I work, I was immediately approached by the driver-bodyguard of Evo's mother. She was the person who the man referred to as Madam. I took a deep breath and silently followed the man to Evo's mother's luxurious car. When I got inside the car, I just sat down and didn't speak. I let her start talking and tell me what she wanted. "My son informed me that your wedding will happen in just a few days from now," Mrs. Mondragon began her purpose with me. I nodded at her to confirm that what Evo told her was true. "He wants us to get married as soon as possible, so the date of our wedding was moved forward," I calmly replied to her. "Aren't you really going to listen to my plea, Raina? I told you to break up with my son and stay away from him forever. Do you want me to use other means to make you follow what I want?" Her voice was threatening her. I don't know what Evo's mother is capable of doing just to separate us. But based on what I've heard about her personality, she is just strict in choosing a daughter-in-law. In other matters, she is kind and generous. Aren't the good traits I've heard about her true? Are they just made up to enhance Evo's reputation among people? "What are you going to do to me, Mrs. Mondragon? Are you going to have me killed so my wedding with Evo won't push through?" I asked her frankly. I should know what she plans to do to me. "Are you crazy? I'm not that despicable! I won't do anything that would ruin my son's image," Mrs. Mondragon exclaimed when she heard what I said. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw Evo's mother's expression. She wasn't just pretending. At least, she's not like Rina who can hurt people just to get what she wants. "I'm glad to hear that you're not that kind of person, Mrs. Mondragon." I took a deep sigh again before continuing what I wanted to say to her. "As I told you before, if you want our wedding not to push through, then you should talk to your son." Mrs. Mondragon frowned at what she heard. "Even if your wedding with my son pushes through, I still cannot accept you as my daughter-in-law." Evo and I are getting married because of the baby in my womb and not because we love each other. The day will come when we will separate, especially when he finds a woman he will love. So whether Mrs. Mondragon accepts me or not as her daughter-in-law is not my concern. "If you have nothing more to say, I will get out of your car." Mrs. Mondragon did not answer, so I opened the door on my side and got out of the car. When I got out of Evo's mother's fancy car, she immediately let her driver drive away. I just let out a deep sigh while watching Mrs. Mondragon's car move away. If she knew that Evo and I had signed a contract agreement, she might not have bothered to separate us. She would just wait for her son to find a woman he loves and truly marries. When I could no longer see Mrs. Mondragon's car, I decided to walk to the parking lot where my car was parked. "Raina!" I was close to my car when I heard the familiar voice of a man calling my name. When I turned around to make sure my suspicion was correct, I was greeted by a tight hug from Greg, my cheating ex-boyfriend. "I miss you, Raina. I'm sorry for what I did. Please forgive me." I was surprised by what Greg did, so I couldn't react immediately. He thought that I still loved him, which is why I didn't push him away. But once I recovered from the shock, I quickly pushed him and slapped him hard. "What right do you have to hug me? We no longer have a relationship, so fix your attitude," I angrily scolded him. Now I regret asking Evo to take back Pit because I didn't want a bodyguard. I'm not used to always having someone following me around. At first, Evo didn't agree to take back Pit, but he had no choice when I insisted. But if Pit were here, I'm sure he wouldn't have allowed my ex-boyfriend to get close to me. "I know you're still angry because of what I did to you, Raina. But I am here asking for your forgiveness and a second chance. I'm sorry that I hurt you. But when you were gone, I realized that you are the one I truly love." I want to vomit at what Greg is saying. He thinks he can win me back by asking for my forgiveness and saying those useless words. Before, whenever he made a mistake, he would just sweet-talk me with loving words. I couldn't resist him, so I would forgive him immediately. That's why he thinks his old tactics will still work on me now. "It's too late, Greg. Have you heard that I'm getting married to Congressman Evo Mondragon?" I said to him with a smile. I want to show him that I'm happy with my life now. I'm happy that he's no longer in my life. "I know. But I also know that until now, you still love me. I don't believe that you can forget me in just two months. I'm here to take you away from him," Greg said. He was confident in what he was telling me. I slightly laughed at what Greg said. "What do you think of yourself? A treasure? I'm proud to tell you that in less than a week, I already forgot about you. And I want to thank you for what you did. Because if you hadn't cheated on me, I wouldn't have met Evo. So thank you for cheating on me." Greg's face suddenly darkened when he heard what I said. For sure, he couldn't accept that I could forget him in just a few days. "I don't believe you, Raina. You're just saying that because you're still mad at me. And I'll prove to you that you still love me." Greg pulled my arm and was about to kiss me on the lips. But before his lips could touch mine, a strong punch landed on his face. He flew and fell onto the cement. "If you come near my fiancée again and touch her, you'll get more than just a punch from me," Evo threatened Greg angrily, the person who punched him. Evo pulled me and worriedly asked if Greg had hurt me. "Tell me if he hurt you so I can have him thrown in jail." "I'm alright, Evo. He didn't hurt me. It's a good thing you came." I couldn't stop myself and hugged him tightly. I felt Evo's body stiffen when I hugged him, but only for a moment. He returned my hug and gently stroked my back. "I'm here. You're safe now," he whispered softly while still hugging me. "I don't believe that Raina loves you, Evo Mondragon. We had a long relationship and she won't easily forget what we shared," Greg said firmly as he slowly stood up and then wiped the blood from his split lip with his finger. He couldn't retaliate against Evo because Pit and Tom were with us. He couldn't defeat either of them. Evo released me and faced Greg. "Really? I will check it for myself." Evo turned to me again and, without a word, pulled my nape and claimed my lips. Though I was surprised, I managed to immediately respond to his kiss, which lasted only a few seconds before he let go and faced Greg again. "Did you see it? She responded and enjoyed my kiss. Do you think there's still room for you in her heart?" Greg just gave Evo a sharp look before turning away and walking off without a word. "You've kissed me twice already." I snapped at Evo, who just laughed. "Correction. It's three times, not just twice. You didn't count the first time we met inside the bar when our baby was conceived," Evo whispered in my ear. My cheeks turned red and hot when I heard what Evo said, especially since his two bodyguards also heard it and pretended to cough as if they hadn't heard anything.
