Business Card

After her boss approved her draft, Aya started working on her presentation regarding the Spa’s advertisement. She had help from the A-team on making the presentation because her boss said so.   They worked on it for whole two days with overtime, and now the day of the presentation came. Aya was dressed in her pristine white suit and she had her hair in a tight bun. The sound of her expensive stilettos echoed around the floor as she walks while finalizing the presentation.   Aya then went to the conference room and started preparing. Ofie was also there to help her; she placed the copies of the presentation on the table, in front of each chair. The other members of the A-team came in with some refreshments and placed them on the table. “Are you nervous?” Ofie asked Aya. “No, but I am hoping that the client would like my proposal,” Aya said without looking away from her laptop.   Ofie smiled and patted Aya’s shoulder. “You can do it. I know the client will like your idea.” She said and Aya smiled. “I hope so.”   Then the door to the conference opened and her boss came in. “Is everything ready?”    Aya looked up from her laptop and smiled at her boss. “Yes, ma’am.” “Good. The representative from Hercules Sparadise just arrived.” Her boss said.   And right on cue, the conference room door opened and two women came in. The one dressed in a simple suit looks like in her early twenties which Aya figured to be the secretary, while the other woman was in her late twenties. Her sun-kissed skin compliments her white fitted dress that looked great on her slender figure. Her shoulder-length hair and sharp facial features can intimidate anyone in front of her but not Aya.   Aya stood up as she looked at the woman and gave her a polite smile. “Aya, this is Miss Vherdschen. She is the one in charge of the Hercules Sparadise.” Aya’s boss introduced their client. “Miss Vherdschen, this is Aya Enriquez the one I told you about.” She said introducing Aya who shook the client’s hand. “We already met, in the Blue Marlin project,” Aya said, and their client smiled. “You must be talking about my sister Lyka. She was the one who recommended your company for the advertising.” Miss Vherdschen said.   Then it hit Aya; they are two different people with the same face. “Oh, twins.” Aya blurted and Miss Vherdschen giggled. “Triplets actually. Don’t worry, if you manage to impress me with your presentation you will be meeting our other sister soon.” She said and Aya smiled. “Then if you’d like I can start with my presentation,” Aya said. “Sure.”   Then all of them took a seat as Aya stood behind the podium in the corner with her laptop. The lights were turned off and Aya started with her presentation. Aya let the video presentation play first, and once it is done, the lights were turned on and she once again stood in front of them and explained every detail of the presentation.   After almost thirty minutes of Aya’s presentation, their client looked intently at Aya and smiled. “Now I know why my sister was keen on getting your services for the ad campaign. I like how you play the ideas, making it more attention-grabbing.” Their client said and everyone in the team grinned. “I would like this Ad to start ASAP.” She said and then she stood up and approached Aya.   Miss Vherdschen held out her hand towards Aya. “Congratulations Ms. Enriquez.” She said. “Thank you, ma’am,” Aya said.   Then Miss Vherdschen turned towards Aya’s boss. “I would like to stick around but I still have work to do.” She said and then she turned to her secretary and gave her a curt nod.   Then the secretary approached Aya and gave her a business card. Aya was confused as she looked at the black and gold-colored card. “Your boss can tell you about that. I’ll see you soon, Malaya Enriquez.” Ms. Vherdschen said and then she went out of the conference room, followed by her secretary.   Once she was gone, everyone started cheering except Aya who still looked confused. “Congratulations Aya, I knew you can win this deal.” Her boss said as she approaches her.   Then she noticed that Aya is still looking at the card. So she took the card from Aya’s fingers and slipped it inside Aya’s jacket pocket. Aya looked at her but her boss who just mouthed ‘later’ before turning towards everyone who was inside the room. “Lunch is on me.”    Hearing what their boss said, everyone cheered and they all made a beeline out of the conference room. Ofie grabbed Aya as they went out, followed by their boss.   They all went towards the Korean restaurant not too far from their office. They all ate wholeheartedly and kept thanking their boss for their free lunch. Aya was eating, but she was still thinking about the business card that was given to her.   After their lunch and they went back to their office, their boss called Aya in her office. And once they are inside and comfortably seated on the couch, Aya pulled the card from her pocket and placed it on the coffee table. “What exactly is this card? What does Ms. Vherdschen mean about what she said?” Aya asked. “You’re really curious huh.” Her boss said. “Yes, I have been thinking about it since we left the conference room. What is this card for?” Aya asked. “Before I tell you anything about that card, tell me. How are you planning to get out of your grandfather’s plan for you?” her boss asked and Aya felt even more stressed when she was reminded of her current situation.   Aya let out a sigh of frustration and rubbed her palms against her face. And once she removed her hands, she let out a loud huff. “I don’t know. I know I can’t talk my way out of this situation. My cousins before me tried but failed. They couldn’t convince grandfather to stop the arrangement, what can I do?” Aya stressed.   Her boss then smiled at her. “How bad do you want to be out of your family’s tradition?” She asked and Aya looked at her. “So bad that I could sell my soul to the devil.” Aya blurted.   Her boss’ grin just becomes wider. “I am no devil, but I can tell you that the card that was given to you is the answer to all of your problems.” Her boss said and Aya looked at her weirdly. “Really now. And how is that?” Aya asked. “Spend millions and hire a husband.”
