The flight was long and by the time we landed my legs were screaming to be stretched from sitting for so long. Roma unbuckled her belt and gently nudged Grant awake and turned to Conan. Roma couldn’t stop the smile crossing her face. Conan was sleeping with his thumb firmly in his mouth and the toy plane firmly gripped to his small chest.
“Conan sweetheart, its time to wake up the plane has landed,” Roma whispered into Conan’s ear. He stirred as he slowly opened his eyes. When he finally noticed other people gathering their bags he sat up straight.
“Mummy, are we back on the ground? Were we over the clouds?” Conan asked Roma rubbing his eyes and holding his toy in his hands. Poor soul he fell asleep more or less as soon as the plane started taking off. “Grant can you carry me on your back as I’m to little to be walking with all these people.” Conan pleaded with his brother with wide eyes knowing that Grant will do what he wants with that look.
“Sorry pal but it’s not safe when we’re getting off the actual plane but as soon as we are on ground I’ll carry you on my back,” Grant said pinching Conan’s cheeks. Conan pulled away sulking that he never got his way this time. He shortly forgot about it as when he saw the scenery through one of the plane’s windows. “WOW! Mummy is this where we are going to live?” Conan said in a surprised look at his mother.
“No honey we are meeting your auntie and she will take us to where we are going to live,” Roma said lovingly to her youngest son planting a kiss on his forehead. “We are going to have to hurry up as your Auntie Jane will be getting worried that we haven’t shown up yet,” Roma said pushing her sons through the door of the plane and into the terminal of the airport.
The only problem Roma had was when Conan had to put his toy plane through the x-ray machine and he thought he was never going to see it again. The security man at the machine was kind enough to show Conan his plane on the screen and let him pick his toy up when it came out the other end of the machine. “I’m sorry it’s his first time flying.” She said to the security guard as Conan bombarded him with all sort of questions. Roma took his hand and led him away from the guard and through the automated doors leading to the waiting area.
Roma looked over the sea of people trying to get a glance of her sister in the crowd. She didn’t know what Jane looked like nowadays as she scanned each face that she could see. Roma was starting to lose hope when she heard her sister shouting on her.
“Roma”
Roma looked to where the shout came from and saw her sister running towards her through the sea of people. Roma saw a change in her sister from the last time she saw her. Roma remembered her sister is a bit more on the heavy side with brown frizzy hair cut that their mother always cut short and wore big glasses that was always too big for her head. The woman running towards them certainly didn’t look like her sister. The woman running towards them looked taller than what Roma remembered. Jane certainly had changed in appearance. She had lost her glasses and her hair was still brown but halfway down her back. Roma was a bit jealous as her sister’s hair didn’t have any trace of frizz at all. Jane has certainly lost the excess weight that she had the last time Roma saw her. Jane looked amazing!
“Jane! Oh my goodness I didn’t recognise you there. I’ve missed you so much.” Roma exclaimed as Jane pulled her into a big hug. “You look amazing! You are going to have to tell me your secret. Boys this is your Auntie Jane.” Roma looked towards the 2 boys who were looking like they were embarrassed of their mother.
“ Oh my goodness are these 2 young men my nephews?” asked Jane when she looked to where Roma was looking. “You must be Grant” Jane said and then she looked over Grant’s shoulder and saw a smaller version of Roma. “And you must be Conan. It’s amazing to finally get to meet you.” Conan hid his face in his brother’s shoulder with bright red cheeks.
“Alright everyone I can’t wait for you to see where you will be living from now on,” Jane said as she grabbed her sister’s hand and directed them out into the fresh air and to her car.
