Part 5: The Confession

454 Words
The moment in the rain lingered in Aarushi’s mind far longer than she wanted to admit. No matter how much she tried to push it away, she couldn’t forget the way Vivaan had looked at her—the sincerity in his eyes, the way his voice had softened when he had asked that question. She was falling for him. And that scared her. --- Avoidance The next few days, Aarushi did everything she could to avoid Vivaan. She skipped her usual study hours in the library, chose different routes to her classes, and even ignored Meera’s teasing comments about her sudden change in behavior. Meera (folding her arms): “Aarushi, you’re running away.” Aarushi (defensive): “I’m not running! I just… I think it’s best if we don’t get too close.” Meera: “Why? Because he’s rich and you’re not?” Aarushi flinched. “You know that world is different, Meera. Guys like him don’t fall for girls like me. And even if they do, their families make sure it doesn’t last.” Meera sighed. “You don’t know that, Aarushi. Maybe Vivaan is different.” Aarushi wished she could believe that. --- The Confrontation Vivaan wasn’t the type to be ignored. After days of her avoidance, he finally cornered her outside the library one evening. Vivaan (firmly): “Alright, Aarushi. Enough.” She stopped in her tracks, sighing. “Vivaan, I—” Vivaan: “No. You’re going to listen to me first.” She looked up at him. His usual playful smirk was gone. His eyes held frustration… and something else. Vivaan: “You’ve been avoiding me. I know why. And I won’t let you push me away without a proper reason.” Aarushi swallowed hard. “Vivaan, this… whatever this is between us, it won’t work.” Vivaan (softly): “Why not?” Aarushi: “Because we’re from different worlds! You have everything, Vivaan. Money, status, a life I can’t even imagine. And me? I’m just a scholarship student trying to survive.” Vivaan (taking a step closer): “And what if none of that matters to me?” She blinked. “What?” Vivaan: “What if I don’t care about money or status? What if all I care about… is you?” Her heart pounded. He was too close now, his presence overwhelming. Aarushi (whispering): “Vivaan… don’t say things you don’t mean.” He gently cupped her face, making her look into his eyes. Vivaan: “I have never meant anything more in my life.” Aarushi’s breath hitched. This wasn’t a game to him. This wasn’t just a passing fancy. This was real. And that terrified her more than anything. --- End of Part 5.
