Chapter 6 Gabi and I headed for our room, saying goodnight to lots of people on the way—probably including people who weren’t here for the wedding and were just ordinary punters at the hotel. In the room Gabi raided the minibar while I unpacked the little luggage we had and put everything away—except Gabi’s wedding outfit, which I wasn’t allowed to look at. Both would need ironed. I wasn’t going to attempt to iron right then, in the dark and kind of drunk. Gabi poured us both red wine from the half size bottle from the mini bar and led me outside onto the balcony. “Hell’s teeth, it’s cold out here,” I said. She scowled at me. “Always with the weather with you English. Forget the cold. Look. Look how beautiful it is.” She closed the balcony door behind us so the light from the lantern
