Chase P. O.V.

“He was my mate.”

Her words echoed for what seemed like forever. I was staring at her, mouth open, eyes wide. I felt a pull on my heart, like a dagger was sent through it. Why did she keep this from us? From me? Of all people, why me? I watched her closely. Her eyes were filled with tears, but passed that I could see fear.

“Was?” Of course Ty would be the first one to talk. I looked over at all the guys and we all had the same look. Shock. Disbelief. Hurt.

She nodded and sat down on the couch. “Six months ago, when I was running through the field on patrol, I smelt it. His scent. It was heavenly. I didn’t know at the time what it was, so I followed it. And he apparently smelt me too because we ran right into each other. “ I watched her face light up slightly at the memory, and then fall. “ We stared at each other for what seemed like ages, neither of us moving. We were so wrapped up in us, we didn’t notice we weren’t alone anymore. One growl came and it seemed to snap him out of whatever trance he was in. “ I remembered the day she went missing. I always thought they took her because of her position. Now I’m starting to wonder if it was because of this mate thing.

“ He shifted into his human form, so I did the same. I think if it wasn’t for the other wolves there, we would have finished the mating ritual. I’m forever grateful we didn’t. That’s the day they took me. His eyes were cold, and full of so much emotion. Hate, fear, lust, sadness. When the other wolves grabbed me, I screamed for him. And all he did was turn his back. “ I saw the tear that fell from her eyes. She quickly wiped it away and continued. “ I was beaten, raped, cut, abused by his higher ups. His beta. His Gamma. Him. “ My blood was boiling. I wanted to tear his heart from his chest and eat it in front of him.

“ I could feel him, every single time he was with someone else. Every single time they took me. I felt his pain, his lust. Everything. “ She sniffled and Macy handed her a tissue. Why was Macy taking this so well? Did she know already? My eyes widened at the thought.

“Dominic was probably the worst to me. Luther let him do basically whatever he wanted. Even though he could feel it too. Before I got away, I rejected him. I got one of the omegas that came to clean me up to give me his full name. I rejected him, cut our bond. The moment I did it he came charging into where they kept me. His eyes were murderous. Screaming at me that I don’t get to reject him. I don’t get to decide that. And unfortunately for him, he was so wrapped up in his anger, he misspoke. He said he accepted my rejection, and it felt like the weight of the world was off my shoulders. I found a way out that night. And well you guys know the rest.” She wasn’t even looking at any of us at this point.

I was watching her so closely, I didn’t even notice that I was being talked to. Why did she hide all of this from me? Me of all people!

“Is that why you made the deal with me this morning?” I said, not even caring what was being said around me. Her head nor her eyes moved, they were planted directly in her lap. I knew my answer, I just wanted to hear her say it out loud. I wanted to hear her say she tricked all of us into thinking she was going to give the Summit a chance to find her mate and still be our Alpha.

The room was so silent, you could hear a pen drop. “Bailey answer me!” I roared, standing from my spot across from her. I watched her flinch and guilt swept through me. She’d been through so much, and here I was adding to all her insecurities.

“I knew I wouldn’t find my mate, so yes. That’s why I made the deal with you this morning.” She finally spoke and it was exactly what I thought. “Second chance mates exist, Bailey. “ Matt spoke, trying to control his attitude.

 “Maybe. Who says I even deserve a second chance mate? Her voice was so quiet, but it didn’t stop the growls coming from the rest of us.

That caused the tears to flow out of her eyes like a waterfall. “After what they did to me, I don’t deserve to have a mate. I’m so ashamed. I feel like filth. The thought of a second chance just makes me sick. They would deserve better.” She was in full sob mode now. I looked over at the guys, their hearts breaking just as much as mine. Sure she was our Alpha, but she was our friend above all. Most of us thought of her as our little sister. She means so much to all of us.

I stood up and walked over to her, kneeling in front her, taking her hands in mine. “Bailey Lou Fox. If you ever say that you are not worthy of anything ever again, I will leave this pack. “ I watched as her head snapped up and she was looking me dead in the face. I never used her full name, it was really the only way to get her attention.

After several minutes of staring at me, she gave a slight nod. I knew it hurt her to tell us this, she was trusting us with everything she had. “You deserve the world. Never let anyone tell you different.”

3 Days Later

Camdon P.O.V

It’s been three days since Bailey spilled the beans about the Rouges. My heart broke for her then, and every day since. She was such a strong Alpha, even now going through everything she was going through. She still made sure we were doing our jobs keeping the pack safe. She made sure that we were fed. God I missed her food when she was locked up in her room. The other guys and myself have felt so bad not trying to get more information out of her six months ago. We could have gone after those stupid ass rouges.

Which we haven’t seen in three days. Part me thinks they are waiting for the Summit. Waiting to see how weak we get. But boy they have no idea how pissed off our Beta is. Our Alpha is hurt, and healing and angry. But Chase is something else entirely. He’s beat the s**t out of every lower rank warrior for the last three days. With us heading to the Summit tomorrow, I told him he couldn’t train that long today. Our pack had to be strong while they were gone.

“Cam Cam,” That familiar voice called out and I nearly rolled my eyes. She was such a clingy little leach. Yes, I called a woman a leach, because that’s what this one was. “Madison. “ I gritted my teeth together as she got closer. She reeked of other wolves.

“Never mind. You seem like you’re in a bad mood.” The she-wolf huffed and walked away. I let out a breath I didn’t know I’d been holding. Thank god she left. I didn’t have time for her slutty ways. She was good for the bed, but that was it. And only for a few times.

I turned around to watch the training grounds when I felt a pair of small arms around me. I didn’t even have to look down, I knew who’s they were. She always came to me when she needed a hug, or something comforting without it being tense with s****l desire. Not that she wasn’t gorgeous, because she was, but she wasn’t for me, and I knew that.

“What are you doing out here Foxy?” I asked, turning to look at her with a smile.

“I needed a Cam hug. Everyone else seems to be avoiding me. “ She gave a frown as she rested her head against my body. I felt so bad for her. She looked so vulnerable. I wrapped my arms around her and held her close. “They just need a little time, Foxy. You dropped a giant bomb shell on us.” I said, resting my chin on her head.

I was probably the only one that wasn’t overly upset with her for hiding the truth. Honestly, I didn’t blame her for hiding it. Not after how the others reacted, especially Chase.

He was losing his mind looking for those Rouges, even after she told him to focus on the Summit. He wasn’t having any of it. You’d think she was his mate the way he was acting, but everyone knew he wasn’t. Even before this. That didn’t stop him from loving her though.

“Yeah I know. I was just too afraid to tell you guys before. “ Her voice was muffled as she spoke into my body. “I didn’t want you guys to think differently of me. Or look at me differently because I’m tainted.”

I pulled her away from me, noticing the tears that had started to fall from her eyes. I quickly wiped them away with my thumbs and cupped her face. “You are not tainted.” I said sternly as I kissed her forehead. “Go finish getting ready for the Summit. We’ll go over patrol details and such after dinner.” I gave her a smile, which she returned and then turned to walk back to the pack members that were training.

**700 miles away**

Bane P.O.V

“I hate the Summit.” My Beta said sourly as he glanced over at me. I couldn’t help but laugh. I didn’t know anyone that actually liked going to the Summit.

“I don’t know why you’re laughing Bane. The Summit is just a place for macho Alphas to degrade less macho Alphas.” He said with a huff and I was still laughing.

“Egan, no one likes going to the Summit. “ I said with a laugh. This wasn’t my first time going, but it was my first time as Alpha, and it was the first time I’d been in 5 years. I had left my pack to travel the world. I wanted to know what more was out there. Surprisingly, nothing. It’s all the same.

When I came back, I was suddenly being forced into this new Alpha position. Sure I have Alpha blood, but I this wasn’t me until last year. I didn’t want this, but my pack, they needed me to be the Alpha. They needed the separation from my fathers pack. The way he treated them was beyond awful.

“You guys do know that not every Alpha there is male, right?” Her voice was soft, as if she was afraid to tell us. Egan rolled his eyes at her. “ Babe, we aren’t stupid.” He huffed, a slight smirk playing on his lips. I glanced over at her in the back seat and she had her arms across her chest and was smirking.

“Says you.” I couldn’t help but laugh at her words. Egan, on the other hand, was less impressed.

“You’re lucky you’re my mate.” He grumbled, making her flash him her best smile.

“V, what can you tell me about her?” I asked, turning to look at the woman in the back seat better. She raised her brow at me and then shrugged.

“No one really knows much about her. She took over when her father was murdered, six months ago we know she was taken by Rouges. That’s basically it. That pack keeps pretty much to itself. “ She pushed her blonde hair from her face and gave him a smile. “I personally think she’s a badass. I mean, she’s literally the only female Alpha. I’m excited to see how everyone is around her.” I could tell she was giddy.

“What’s the packs name?” I asked and she grinned.

“Crimson Fangs.” She didn’t even have to think about it. She really did admire them.

“Veronica, you are going to have to chill and not go all fan girl on her. “ Egan said with a smirk, causing his mate to stick her tongue out at him. These two were so childish, but you could tell how much they loved each other.

I turned back around and put my head back. “How much longer, Egan? I’m so tired of being in this car with you two.” I teased, looking over at him. He glanced at the clock and sighed. “We have literally like six more hours.” He groaned. We’d already been on the road for about four hours. This was the longest f*****g car ride, especially with these two.
