Chapter 07: Keeping Them Close

1105 Words
“I’m going to move out of my mother’s house and find somewhere else to stay,” Ginger told Bryan while they were driving towards home. “What? Why?” Bryan asked, shocked. “Why would you decide to leave? I mean, you just got home!” “I’m not planning on staying here for long, anyway.” “Then why did you return?” She fell silent for a while. Why did she return? She returned for her mother — hoping that she could feel her care and love — things that she never felt when she was in the hospital. “Why do you care?” Ginger responded. “And again, mind your own business. I’m leaving, that’s it!” Bryan shook his head sideways and heaved a sigh. “Don’t you dare let others know what I am up to, alright? You don’t want to make me mad.” “Yet here you are, telling me your plans,” Bryan chuckled. “I’m glad that you trust me.” “What? Who said I trust you?!” “If you didn’t, you wouldn’t have told me about your plans.” “Well, I didn’t have plans on telling you, but you overheard me in my bedroom, right?” Ginger pointed out. “What were you even doing outside my bedroom? Are you a pervert?” “In your dreams! I was there to call you since we’re about to eat, you know?” Bryan chuckled. “So, do you already have a place to stay if you are moving out of your mother’s home?” “Well, I could stay at our old house just near here,” Ginger responded. “It’s empty now since we also moved out our stuff when my parents got divorced when we were little.” Another silence hovered over them, and no one broke the silence anymore. Ginger didn’t waste any time — she moved back to their old house without letting her mother know, she continued investigating who stole the Bar & Life company’s wealth, and kept an eye on her rivals by having a spy agent follow and observe their every move. She created a new identity with a new name — Lucy Solace — from her ID to her looks, everything has changed. After three months… Ginger was thrilled to go back to Dr. Guevarra because it was the day that she would unwrap the bandage from her face and see the final result of Dr. Guevarra’s liposuction. “Welcome back, Ginger,” Dr. Guevarra said with a smile on her face. “Are you ready to remove your bandage and see the result of your new appearance?” “Finally! I get to see the new me literally,” Ginger said. “And Ginger had already died three months ago. It’s Lucy Solace now.” “Well, that’s a nice name, Lucy,” Dr Guevarra said while gently removing Ginger’s bandage, and once removed, she handed over a mirror to Ginger. Ginger couldn’t believe what she was seeing right now — a different person compared to her old self. She smiled while staring at her reflection as she gently caressed her new cheeks. “I look pretty,” she muttered. “Pretty enough to seduce Charlie and give him a taste of his own medicine.” “Yes, you are beautiful,” Dr. Guevarra said. “Now, you go and live your best life as a new person, Lucy Solace.” ᯓ★ When she got home, she noticed that there was a car parked in front of her house. It was Bryan’s. “What is he doing here now?” Ginger thought. She opened the car door and stepped out, shutting the door behind her. Bryan was ringing the doorbell, patiently waiting for someone to open the door. “Bryan? What are you doing here?” He almost jumped, surprised by Ginger’s voice. “You surprised me,” — he turned around to face her— “Who…who are you? You’re not Ginger!” Ginger chuckled. “Obviously? She’s dead, remember? I’m Lucy Solace.” Then Bryan remembered the day he drove Ginger to her surgery. “Listen, you’ll see the full effect of the surgery in three months, and you’ll feel the pain within those months,” Dr. Guevarra said. “So after three months, you’d better go back here for a check-up, Ginger.” “Okay, got it,” Ginger responded and smiled. “Let’s start the procedure and kill Ginger. Lucy Solace will be born soon.” His eyes widened, “It’s really you?! Wow, look how much you’ve changed.” “I know, and I’m loving it,” Ginger said, smiling. “This is just the first step of my plan, and soon enough, my foes will meet Lucy Solace, a girl who’s going to make their lives a living hell.” “And how do you plan on doing that?” He asked. “By working with them, what else?” ᯓ★ She then decided to apply at her rival’s company, Slottery Vines & Life Casino, as an Executive Assistant, where she gets to work closely with Charlie and Charlotte. “You know what they say — bring your enemies closer.” She updated her resume and changed her details. However, she made sure to include that she worked at the Bar & Life as an Executive Assistant. She knew that the possibility of her getting hired was 100% if Charlotte and Charlie saw that she used to work for Bar & Life. After creating her resume, she sent it to Slottery Vines & Life Casino. She eventually got a call from one of their employees, passed the phone and initial interview, and proceeded to the final interview and face her rival — Charlotte. She went to the Slottery Vines & Life Casino, where Charlotte was waiting at her office as Lucy Solace. An employee welcomed her and took Ginger to Charlotte’s office. The moment the door opened, she saw Charlotte’s face busy scanning her resume. She had the urge to yell at her and attack her, but she controlled herself because she didn’t want to mess up her plan. Plus, Charlotte was pregnant and didn’t want to cause danger to the baby. “Mrs. Richardson, the applicant is here,” Joshua said. Charlotte looked up at Joshua and then at Ginger. “You may leave the room now,” Charlotte told Joshua. As Joshua left the room, Charlotte smiled at Ginger and said, “Take a seat. Let’s get to know each other.” ᯓ★
