“I’m fine, I swear, I don’t need help!” Jamie insisted, holding back a sigh when another girl offered to help him with the laundry basket he was carrying. Logan had made him keep the bandage on even though the wound had almost fully healed and everybody assumed he was still badly hurt. Even Nikki kept giving him the easiest chores, and when he told her he could take more, she scolded him for being too annoying and sent him away. When one of the girls felt sick and started puking in the laundry room while Jamie was preparing to leave after carrying a message, he had offered to help. That’s how he ended up with an entire basket of hand towels in his hands and suffered through three people offering their help.
