Aurora’s POV
I was literally three hours from seeing Jett and I couldn’t be more excited. I was practically flying home when all of a sudden-thud.. thud... thud.. thud.. thud..thud...pssssssss-“SH**!!!”
I get out to see my very flat tire and I’m still twenty five minutes from the house. I call around for anyone to come get me, I’m met with no answer from my mom, my dads stuck with a pack emergency, & Hayley, Ian and Payton are out in the city getting the boys fitted for tuxes. I sigh in defeat, “time to make the call.” I call a tow truck that says they’ll be here in 35 minutes.
*TWO HOURS LATER*
“I’m sorry Miss Alpha, we had an emergency come in and the new receptionist forgot to get your number and-“ I cut him off raising my hand not in the mood to hear anymore.
“Okay, it’s fine. I’m just kind of in a hurry to get home, the Alpha Son is coming home and I need to be there when he arrives.”
“Oh yes ma’am! We’ll get ‘er loaded up and get you home as fast as possible.” Something told me their fast and mine were two very different things.
Jett’s POV
My flight landed earlier than expected but it didn’t bother mom any, when I called to tell her I was going to need to be picked up earlier she informed me she was already waiting there for me. We had pulled into the driveway just moments ago and all I could do was sit and stare at the door.
“Honey?”
“Yeah, mom?” I respond but can’t seem to break my stare.
“It’s going to be okay, no matter what happens with her you will be okay.”
“I know I just don’t want to lose her and I don’t just mean as my mate.” I finally turn to her meeting her gaze with tears forming in my eyes. “She’s my family, I love her. What if she never trusts me again?” She takes my hand in hers and pats it gently.
“She will dear. It just may take some time for her to get used to the idea.”
With that I took a deep breath in and stepped out of the car, as I continued to breathe in I noticed I couldn’t smell her scent. Like it was there but not as strong as when she’s present.
“Mom, where is she?”
Mom popped open the garage and saw that Rory’s car wasn’t there. She pulled out her phone “14 missed calls”, “22 text messages” all from Rory and no voicemails. Mom instantly unlocked her phone and read the texts, I could smell the fear on her.
She let out a breath I didn’t even realize she was holding. “She got a flat tire about 25 minutes from here, the tow truck only got there 20 minutes ago so she will be home in the next 30 minutes.”
I let out the deep breath that I had been holding. Thank Goddess she’s safe.
Aurora’s POV
“Can’t we drive any faster?” I said agitated. Mom had finally answered me and told me that she and Jett were already home from the airport, something about his flight landing early.
“I’m sorry ma’am but because this is a company vehicle I can’t go above the speed limit.” His response was filled with guilt.
“Hey it’s okay, I’m sorry I’m just so excited to see my brother. You are doing a great job.”
“Thank you ma’am I appreciate that!”
We sat in silence for the rest of the way home, what would normally take me 25 minutes took us nearly 40 since he couldn’t drive over the speed limit. What can I say Fast and Furious have always been my favorite movies!
As he pulled up to my house, I didn’t even give him a chance to stop. “THANK YOU!” I shouted as I sprinted towards the house, not waiting a second for his response. He started unloading my car causing a lot of commotion, but as my feet hit the drive way I started to smell something that stopped me in my tracks.
“What is that, it smells like pine?”
“Our mate is close by. Follow the scent.” Harmony spoke softly as the smell hit me even harder with the summer breeze. I followed the scent, but I was confused because it was coming from inside of the house.
Jett’s POV
We were all sitting on the couch waiting for her to get home. Mom and dad took the liberty of explaining everything to Payton so when things got super awkward he would understand why.
“So...woah...and you’re okay with it?” Payton looked to me and asked.
“The Moon Goddess plans for everything and I know this is part of her plan. Yes, I’m okay with this.”
He just nodded, looked up at me and....hugged me.
I half expected him to punch me, he loved Rory. There wasn’t much of his life that he lived without her and I knew that this could tear the family apart so I was shocked to feel his embrace.
“I’m so sorry you’ve had to keep this a secret. From what I’ve seen the bond is such a pull towards that person and the fact that you had to ignore it and just carry on like nothing was different, I can’t imagine what that has been like.”
I cried a small tear in response. It felt good to have someone understand my pain that I’ve been dealing with the past 6 years. Just as I was about to respond to him-
“She’s here.”
Aurora’s POV
I stood at the front door terrified to open it. We weren’t expecting any guests. Mom wouldn’t even allow me to have Hayley over because she wanted this to be all about family time. I hit that realization as I walked towards my home. I’ve been 18 for two months now, I would know if my mate had been inside my home unless.. “Oh my Goddess.” I started to shake, all of my emotions colliding together I was losing all control.
“Calm down”
“CALM DOWN!? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS HARMONY!! THIS MAN IS MY MATE, THE MAN I HAVE SPENT ALMOST MY ENTIRE LIFE WITH, SHARED SECRETS WITH AND HAS BEEN MY BEST FRIEND IS MY MATE! AND IVE BEEN RAISED AS HIS SISTER!”
“I know that, but think. This is a blessing from the Goddess. She has seen your lack of trust, the fear of pain and abandonment that you associate with the mate bond. She is relieving you of that now by giving him to you forever.”
I started to hyperventilate, I can’t open the door. Opening the door makes everything real and I just can’t. I start to panic and turn away when suddenly the door opens.
“Aurora.” He spoke and my name had never sounded so good on anyone’s lips. And I hated that this was my first thought.
“Jett.” I gasped at him.
“MATE.” Harmony said.
