Heated Encounters

Aurora’s POV “He knew my father, my biological father.” “WHAT!?” They both screamed at the same time. “Are you sure?” Hayley asked. “I’m positive. I was thinking earlier about the night my mom died,” they both give me a sad expression, “I know, I know but I’m glad I did because I remember, that man he used to be friends with my father. I remember his creepy voice, hitting on my mom while my father just laughed. I’m telling you I know that man, I know his voice. I can picture him, heck even see his face, but I cannot remember his name.” I looked at the ground as I tried to remember. They both looked at me stunned as we sat here in the middle of the road. “We have to go home, we have to tell dad. Maybe he can figure out who the guy was. I know you lived on the outskirts of the territory but I’m sure he could figure it out.” As much as Payton was trying to help, I doubt my dad could figure out who this guy was. I remember a little more about him, that he came from a different pack and that he only visited for my father’s birthday and holidays but I don’t think any of that will help dad find the guy without a name to run with. “No, it’s okay. I need to think and remember more before I take this to dad, you know how sensitive he gets about what happened to me. We’ll just go to the party and have some fun, after that I think we all need it.” They looked at me for a moment, then to each other, “are you sure?” Payton asked with the most concern in his voice. I nodded, Pay gave me a look I couldn’t quite read and started driving again. While I was trying to keep my cool, it was really scary to me to think that the man from my dream was that creepy guy that hung around with my biological father. I never thought the dream meant anything, I just thought it was a dream. But now, it makes me wonder what if it’s something more. I tried to keep the thoughts in the back of my mind as we joined in at the party. I even told my wolf, Harmony, not to react yet I could feel her pacing in the back of my head reading my memories searching for any information on this guy. I was doing it too, combing through every memory I had that included him. Unfortunately, there was nothing unique about him. He was about my father’s age, average build, maybe 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. As I was piecing this guy together I felt someone bump into me, “Hey, I’m sorry about that. You okay?” “I’m fine, thanks. Sorry for being in the way.” “No, a gorgeous girl like you could never be in the way. Want something to drink?” “No I’m okay, thanks though.” “You sure? I don’t mind.” I simply shook my head in response. Like I would take a drink from a stranger. “Okay, how about some company? That beautiful head of yours seems to be pretty preoccupied.” I blush at his compliment and give him a slight nod. “I think if you’re gonna hang out with me, you might as well give me your name.” I smiled giving a mischievous grin. “Kanaan.” He smiled and stuck out his hand for me to take, “Aurora, but my friends call me Rory.” “Rory. Simple and beautiful.” Causing my blush to spread over nearly my entire face. Kanaan and I talked for hours, the thing that got me was it was about nothing in particular. We told jokes, talked about simple things in our lives and just enjoyed each other’s company. I could tell he and I are going to be fast friends. As Kanaan and I were walking the halls of the pack house I heard someone yelling. “RORY..ROR—AURORA!” We both turned around quickly to see Payton running towards us, “you have to come with me! It’s Hayley.” He and I took off running with Kanaan following closely behind. “You bi***! He came onto me, how the he** are you going to hit me when he’s clearly trying to cheat on you!?” Hayley yelled at this Omega wolf that I didn’t know. I watched them circling around each other like we would do in wolf form. Harmony was in the back of my mind ‘You have to stop them. Hayley will hurt that little wolf. Her boyfriend was flirting with Hayley that’s why they’re upset.’ I wasn’t quite sure how she knew that but I ran with it before someone got hurt. “GUYS STOP!!” I roared as everyone turned to look at me. Huh, looks like living with the Alpha paid off. Payton rushed over to Hayley and threw her over his shoulder, she was kicking and screaming every step of the way, whenever I noticed Ian, the Gamma Son, pushing his way through the crowd. It was like he was looking for someone that he didn’t know, then it hit me. He’s got his mate’s scent. Hayley started to calm down as she had caught a scent as well. No way, this isn’t happening. His grey eyes locked with her emerald eyes. “MATE.” They said simultaneously. I watched as Hayley pushed Payton forward causing him to fall to the ground and ran into Ian’s arms as they began kissing each other like they were trying to devour one another. “I guess we will be going home alone,” Payton said playfully. Who would’ve thought Pay’s and my best friend would end up together. As Payton and I walked away laughing at what just happened, Kanaan ran up to me. “Here’s my number, in case you ever just want to hang out.” He slipped me the little piece of paper and gave me a small kiss on the cheek causing my whole face to turn beet red. This night has been unforgettable to say the least.
