Maybe I was pushing a little too hard. Maybe I was playing around too much, but I just didn’t like these accusations. I mean, of course, Killian had a point. It would make sense if Wylder believed Killian and his parents had been behind his parents’ and uncle’s deaths. But it seemed weird why so many deaths were being blamed on Killian, and then Killian’s mate suddenly turned up dead too, with the evidence pointing to Wylder. What went on between these two families? And why the hell was I caught in the middle?

“But how would you have known when it was dark and you were under time pressure?” I asked him. “Why wouldn’t your first thought be that I was his mate?”
