I should have seen the comment coming. I knew Killian would probably not enjoy hearing it but he sounded much like Wylder. He actually reminded me a little of him. In some ways they were alike, but I knew that would only make Killian angry to hear. I might not hate either, but they had a deep and old hatred for each other. I hadn’t changed my mind though. I was leaving, and I had to go before Wylder came looking for me, and demanded to get me back. It would put me in a tricky situation.
“What if you drove me to work?” I asked Killian.
“What?”
“Yeah, then you can make sure I arrive there safely.”
