33 Wendy needed answers. Whether Jack Culverhouse was involved or not, it didn’t actually matter. The problem was she needed to know either way. The thought that her trust could have been broken in that way was devastating, but the possibility that she could have thought such a thing about Jack if it was untrue would potentially be even worse. Whatever the truth was, she needed it. Her distinct lack of self esteem meant that she was certain there was no way she could outwit Jack.
