New pack

Jackson POV ~~~~~~~~~ I was in the midst of eating breakfast when Anna and Alaric wandered downstairs. They both wore head to toe black and looked lethal. I was able to talk to Alaric for bit after we got back to the pack house about training methods. He was a jack a** but he did have some good ideas. When I asked about Anna he said she normally crashes pretty early. She seemed to be pretty exhausted after the car ride it seems. However I couldn’t tell seeing her come downstairs now. She looked just as ready to fight as any other solider. I did wonder how the hunters would do if a wolf came at them. Not a crazed rogue wolf but a wolf working within a pack. I didn’t voice these thoughts however. I cautiously watched as they retrieved plates and dished food for themselves. Anna seemed slightly confused as she was doing this. Perhaps they were served on their land? Or maybe they just weren’t used to having breakfast made for them. Anna stood awkwardly to the side. Clearly not knowing where was appropriate to sit. “You can sit wherever you like. It won’t offend me.” I stated. She seemed bewildered for a moment but quickly nodded and sat. “Who made all this food?” She questioned I raised an eyebrow. It wasn’t much. Just some bacon and eggs. “I did. Kitchen staff needed a break so I let them have the morning to themselves” I shrugged. She seemed shocked for a moment but quickly recovered and shrugged her shoulders. “I would’ve never taken you for being adept in a kitchen.” I couldn’t help but notice a smirk on her face. Why was this woman so snarky? She barely knew me. How was she supposed to know how I ran this pack? I was slightly offended but hid my annoyance behind a glass of OJ. She turned antsy and I watched as she whispered something in Alarics ear. I don’t know why she did this? She knew that wolves have superior hearing. She whispered “meet me in my room in an hour so we can go over strategy plans” i don’t know why she couldn’t have said that to me in person. Alaric seemed to like the attention she was giving him plenty. It irked me to see them close. Why? I don’t know either of them. ‘Maybe because she reminds you of mate’ Onyx chimed in sadly. I sighed. ‘I wish I had more time to have learned about Cathy before she disappeared but I barely knew anything besides she would get flustered and pace and she hated me. This woman doesn’t seem to care for me and she fidgets more than paces.’ I shrugged off Onyx’s idea. Cathy left before I knew anything about her and by the time i had full control of the pack and my parents couldn’t stop me from rescinding her banishment she had long disappeared. I tried to go to the omega house and ask around about her. Everyone just seemed to fear me and were genuinely confused about how I knew Cindy. 2 good things did come out of that trip however, first- Hudson met his mate. Jenny was a meek little thing but she seemed thrilled to have a beta mate who stood beside her unashamed. And second, I noticed the terrible conditions the omegas lived in. Their quarters were in worse condition than a jail cell. The roof leaked, the floor was rotting, and it was freezing. I made some serious changes after that day. I destroyed the omega pack house and rebuilt them all their own houses. My dad complained of it being a waste of money but I argued with him that their happiness would make them work harder. That however was not what I cared about. I knew how terrible life must’ve been for Cathy there. Jenny talked about it being cold and dirty but didn’t go into many details. It wasn’t until I saw how terrible it was on the inside that i fixed it. No one deserved to live like that and I feel terrible for allowing it for so long. Cathy must’ve experienced a lot of issues there. ‘Yeah you had your head up your a** and paid too much attention to those girls and not waiting for our perfect mate’. I know Onyx is right so I just stay silent. I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard Anna and Alaric approaching. Neither of them looked entirely too happy but Alaric looked particularly p****d. “Can you show us to the training grounds? We prefer to map out our surroundings before the recruits come.” She asked. I couldn’t help but notice all the gear they had on. Multiple knives, guns, throwing stars and axes. They looked completely unbothered by all of it so i just nodded. “Yes of course. Let me show you around. Maybe it would help to show you the other areas of-“ She quickly interrupted me “no that won’t be necessary. We’re only here to train. We don’t need to see any other amenities. Hopefully we leave sooner rather than later” “So be it, this way.” I don’t know why it panged my heart to hear that they planned to leave and she clearly didn’t want to stay here. But I decided to not focus on that at the moment. I needed to see what these 2 actually could do. Watching Anna and Alaric I understood why they were the best. Alaric let Anna take the lead but he was always right behind her wanting to protect her I guess? They both quickly made work of the training dummies and said they were ready for the recruits. I didn’t expect Anna to be so fierce in her teachings. She seemed faster than most of the boys she was teaching. Most of my warriors were shocked by her abilities. She truly was a sight to behold. I did warn my delta to talk to the kids about not ogling Anna. I truly was a little nervous about what Alaric would do to anyone who stared at her a little too long. Luckily today they all kept their eyes to themselves. But a few seemed a little lovestruck. The day seemed to speed on by and by the end the kids seemed to be understanding it and I was even learning a few things. We didn’t often fight in our human forms. I watched as Anna and Alaric stood off against each other. The boys really wanted to see who would win. Anna was a lot faster but Alaric was stronger. Their game however seemed more mental than physical. They watched for each other’s moves before moving themselves. Alaric was the first one to move and she let herself be taken down by him? Onyx was bristling in my head over him on top of her. He seemed maybe jealous? The game seemed almost over but then Anna suddenly flipped him over and trapped her knee against his neck. It’s clear by that move she could’ve killed him. She stood up and helped him up. Some of the boys were utterly shocked she beat him but I was surprised. Anna clearly knew what she was doing. It was only when Anna went to help Alaric up when s**t hit the fan. He pulled her down to him and kissed her in front of everyone. I didn’t even know what was happening until I realized I had thrown Alaric about 100 ft into a wall. I looked down at my hands shocked. Anna looked also in shock at what occurred. I quickly scanned her for injuries. Luckily she had none. ‘Onyx what the h*ll was that?’ I was raging against my wolf. This could literally create war between wolves and hunters. ‘I don’t know. I just felt and extreme urge to protect her. I was moving before I even realized.’ His tail was between his legs and he clearly knew he was in the wrong. I turned watching Alaric. I expected him to come after me in a fit of rage but he just got up and spit blood onto the ground. He slowly stalked over. There wasn’t any anger there but he stared at me like an animal stalking it’s prey. This fight wouldn’t happen now but it would happen. “Are you okay?” Anna asked Alaric sounding concerned but also a little scared. I don’t know why that bothered me so much. It was good if hunters feared us. But I didn’t want her to be afraid of me. “I’m fine. Must’ve wanted to show he was stronger than both of us I guess” he smirked at me but we both knew that wasn’t what happened and this wasn’t over. “Let’s head back now. The day is over and you look tired.” She shrugged but I did notice how tired she looked. This should’ve barely affected a hunter. “I’m alright but we should head back. I need a good shower after all of this.” She looked at me pointedly and then walked off with him towards the pack house. ‘Onyx there’s something weird about that girl. Im acting differently around her’ I barely knew her and she was borderline an enemy. Onyx seemed just as confused as I am ‘Maybe we’re acceptive of her for a chosen mate?’ I was too afraid to admit he was right. Of all the girls before onyx showed little to no interest. Besides Cathy. I couldn’t imagine giving her up but maybe this was a choice I needed to make for the best of the pact. ‘That’s assuming she’s even interested in us. She’s a hunter this is like staying with your sworn enemies.’ That was true. It would be difficult to even get the pack to accept her. Or for her to accept me. This is a long road ahead. ‘You got that right’ Onyx said as I begun walking back to the pack house.
