Phoebus turned to his father quickly, his eyes wide. “Can we stop there and explore, Baba? I want to see it. I want to see Odysseus’ home!” The corbita bobbed up and down on the waves, and Lucius gripped the railing to steady himself. Normally, it would have been a smooth passage between the two islands, but at that late date in the year, it was starting to get choppy. Lucius turned to see Adara coming toward them. “Phoebus would like to stop and see the island.” Adara smiled at her son but shook her head. “I’m sorry, Phoebus. I just asked Captain Creticus if we could stop, but he says that we need to make up some time. If we don’t get around cape Malea soon, it could be very dangerous.” It broke her heart to see the sad, longing and disappointed look in her son’s eyes, but she knew that
