“Really?” I asked and I could hear the squiggles that were already hurting my ear with how loud they were. I was so relieved. “Yes of course we're telling the truth.”
I was really excited now. I was so excited and glad that he had stood up for us like that. That I really could not stay mad at him for trying to keep it a secret from me.
Perhaps I would let it go for today. Perhaps I would decide to forget for a couple of hours that he chose not to say anything to me for whatever reason. Just because he wants to protect me.
