Chapter six

Six: "If I'm going to spend my entire life with someone, I want it to be you." That question flew over my head like he was speaking a different language. All I could do was stare at him, wavering between his piercing blue eyes, his wet lips and his hand down there. My eyes should have stayed up, but they couldn't. "I'll give you a chance to rinse your hair and finish up. Hurry." he grabbed me with one hand and kept that one particular hand down, the hand that had a small tattoo that I was seeing for the first time. "No, I'm fine!" I quickly said before wrapping the towel around me and running out of the shower, out of the bathroom and out of the bedroom. I could have slipped and fell with how slippery my feet still were over the ceramic floors but I made it to the next room without seriously injuring myself at least. "What is wrong with you?" I ran to the mirror and saw just how ridiculous i looked with foam in my hair and some still on my face. He had seen me like this? Wait... Why was I so concerned? Why? I took a deep breath before I walked into the connected bathroom of the bedroom I was in. Thank moon goddess for multiple rooms and bathrooms. All these options and I still ended up choosing his bathroom? White the luck I had! I finished my shower before drying off. Before I could apply some moisturiser, I took my towel off and let it fall on the ground. "Don't do it! Why are you doing this to yourself?" I asked myself but I surely didn't listen to warnings. Without hesitating any longer, I stood in front of the mirror and turned to my back. My jaw immediately fell when I realised that this had to be his view when he walked in. I stared at my flat looking butt for a while, just letting it sink in. "Basic body. Fine! You win, Jack!" I cried out before I angrily reached for my towel and wrapped it around my body again. I had never been too conscious about my body, never felt the need to be. Not anymore, now I was constantly thinking about how imperfect it was since Jack made that comment. He was going to scar me in more ways than one. I suppose a lot of things had changed in my life in just two days. I found out my mate was cheating on me, got rejected, realised that I have an unappealing body and.... And I have seen two men... Naked. Before last night, I had not seen a naked man, ever. But now all I saw when I closed my eyes was Kane's body. He left so little to the imagination, because he knew that he was perfect. Me on the other hand, he did not have to put me through that? How could he look at my imperfect body without my permission? Forget the dress I planned on wearing. I found another hoodie to throw on and paired it with some short tights. I was officially angry at him for what he did. A knock came from my door not long after I finished zipping my suitcases up and backing them into a corner. "Now you know how to knock?" I responded and the door just opened. "Dinner is ready. It's too hot for that. Here." He threw the dress I had left in his room at me and I caught it before setting it down on the bed. "I'm a little cold, I'll be fine." that was the best excuse that I could give him. "Let's go have dinner. Dad will start tossing in his grave when he sees us staying in the same house and not having a meal together. Something flashed through his eyes when he mentioned his father, but before I could even analyse it, it was gone and his face was back to normal. "Okay." I responded and he held the door open for me so I could walk in front of him. He plated up, surprising me. "I thought you had maids here." I said to him as he put down my plate in front of me. "I used to, but not anymore. I rarely have meals like this. I hunt most days." He replied and I nodded my head. Makes sense I guess. "Here." He handed me a box that had a ribbon on it and I hesitantly took it. It was a brand new phone. "Sorry about the other one." he said before he started to eat. "Thank you." I couldn't find it in me to complain. He actually did look sorry, unless he was a seriously good actor. "About the ring, I really can't take it off?" I asked him and he was quick to shake his head. "No, it's stuck there forever, didn't you hear me the first time?" "Can I ask you a question?" I was nervous just thinking about what I wanted to say. "ask." he urged me before he stopped looking at his plate and focused all his attention on me. "You can keep eating, you don't need to stop just beca-" "Ask your question. I'm listening." He interrupted me and his stare became more intense. "Why me? Why would you choose me to be with forever? Unless, that's not... What... it really... means." my words came out more slowly the more I regretted asking the question. "Why would it be anyone else? If I'm going to spend my entire life with someone, I want it to be you." His words immediately made my heart beat fast. "So, it's for real ? I thought it was just a contract marriage." I said to him and his brows fell before a frown formed on his face. "That's exactly what it is. Forget I said anything." He suddenly changed his demeanour before pulling his chair back and standing. "Come to bed early, that way, we'll have breakfast together before I leave." He was gone before I could even ask him anything else. I still had so many questions. Why was he so eager to help me get back at Jack? Why was he so intent on having meals with me too? The small questions were piling up and I still had no answers for them. Why did he change his answer just now? It didn't matter, I couldn't let it matter. As soon as tomorrow came around, my goal would be getting back at Jack. He deserved to be hurt the way he hurt me amd worse!
