Keira Magdalene Hewett loved her husband for more than fifteen years. Growing up with Gideon Hal Althan of the famous and rich Althan family, she was already living the life most women would kill for-the chance to be beside the most handsome and wealthy scion. Even in her younger years, she already dreamt of how it would feel to be Gideon's wife. Would he pamper her? Would he love her, too?

Alas, due to unfortunate circumstances, a wedding was forced upon Keira and Gideon. While Keira wanted nothing more than to be Mrs. Althan, she did not know that this sham of a marriage would be the cause of Gideon's ire and disgust towards her.

Left by the man she desired the most and neglected over the woman he had his heart for, Keira decided to let go. With courage and determination, she is set to live the life she deserved.

Only to know that she had no chance against destiny.

Chapter 1: The Forsaken Wife
Chelsea Woods, Bay City Villas “Madam, shall we reheat the meal you’ve prepared for the Young Master?” Keira absentmindedly stared at the dining table full of delightful meals which she lovingly cooked and prepared for her and her husband’s fifth wedding anniversary. She was supposed to be enjoying this night as this was the first time that her husband of five years agreed to go home to her for this event. She even donned her new dress and put on a little make-up to present herself well to her husband. It took her almost a day to prepare everything, yet her excitement was cut off when he texted her one simple message. [There was an emergency at the office. Can’t go back.] She wanted to laugh and cry at the same time, but she tried to force herself not to. After all, even her crying can be seen as annoying by Gideon Hal Althan, the husband that she had loved for more than fifteen years of her life. Yet, she cannot stop the tears from flowing once she realized that no matter her efforts, it will always be met with disdain and indifference. Now, even on the most special day of their life, he was nowhere to be seen. She was never the first choice. She was never the priority. “No need. You can have some of it, Casey. Share it with everyone.” Keira stood up from her seat and did not mind the pity stare of the house helper. She was already past her limit. She lost her appetite, she is tired, and she is emotionally exhausted. She slowly trudged towards the stairs and made her way to the second floor where their bedroom was situated. When she reached her room, she immediately took off her dress and went to the bathroom. There, she released all her pent-up emotions. She cried out her pain, her longing, her forsaken love, and her loneliness. Keira once believed that Gideon would somehow fall in love with her. She made sure he would. She was the perfect wife-obedient and classy-without any faults. After all, she had practiced long enough to become the perfect Mrs. Althan. But for everything she did, Gideon did not appreciate her. She got out of the bathroom after an hour of crying and sat on the edge of the matrimonial bed. The bed was clearly made for two, but she could only count on one hand the times when Gideon shared that bed with her. Most of the time, he would choose to sleep either in the guestroom or in his makeshift office. Heck, he was not even home for months at most. Keira felt like she was being slapped in the face every time it happened, but as usual, she made herself think that maybe Gideon want to be alone and should not be bothered, as he was always busy with the company his father left for him. The message alert tone of her phone took her out of her lonely reverie. It was an anonymous sender. When she opened the message, her heart almost stopped. [Karina is back.] Just that one sentence and the picture of her husband hugging a slim woman with blonde hair caused Keira’s heart to tremble. She closed her phone with trembling hands. Her eyes are starting to get blurry. So, while she was there waiting for him to come home and celebrate their anniversary, he chose to accompany the woman whom his heart longed for. She was really stupid to think that just because Gideon was married to her, that there wouldn’t be any competition at all. How did it come to this? All she knew was that she dedicated her whole life to Gideon. She took Business Management so that she could help him manage the company when the time came that he would inherit the Althan Group. She took up cooking classes, gardening, piano lessons, and many more to upgrade her social skills to be able to stand beside him with pride. She perfected her craft of hosting parties so that she wouldn’t become an embarrassment to her friends. She was the ultimate martyr, and she even wears the title proudly. But all those things did not matter to him. She was not able to showcase her skills in business management as she was not even allowed to work either in the Althan Group or any other companies, for that matter. He said that she need not work, she was Young Madam Althan after all. Everyone is at her beck and call if she uses the title well. As for her culinary skills, it was mostly the servants at home who were able to eat her creations. Gideon was not even around most of the time. And even if he was, he wouldn’t touch the food she cooked. Not to mention that she was not able to use those social skills at all. Gideon did not bring his friends home, and while she knew most of them, she was not really acquainted with them. They grew up together and that’s the reason why she met some of his buddies. But he never had the chance to introduce them to her, even during their wedding. He said it was irrelevant and that she should not be getting near his friends. She thought he was just jealous. But that was not the case, after all. The truth is, he does not want his friends to be associated with her and even if it hurts, she endured it all just to obey him. She’s had enough. Who to blame but herself? She was so in love with him that she lost sight of who she was, what she wanted, and what she deserved. The desire to be his wife overlapped her dream to become the world’s greatest singer. She was so blind. She was nothing more than a lapdog who waits to eat the breadcrumbs of its owner. She opened her phone again and started typing a message. [Help me draft a divorce agreement.] After sending the message to her lawyer, Keira took off the wedding ring she had proudly worn for five years. She chuckled bitterly. Before their wedding, she was even ecstatic to find the perfect pair of wedding rings for the two of them. When he put it on her finger, she even wished that she would never have to take it off ever. She took a sheet of paper from her nightstand and wrote a simple message for her soon-to-be ex-husband. She then took her luggage and started packing up. After putting her wardrobe, make-ups, and other important essentials in her luggage, she went out to the kitchen and proceeded to take out her favorite mug which she had used since she was in high school. She then went to the library and took some of her precious books. She wanted to make sure that she would not be leaving any traces of her in this house she called home for a few years. After everything had been done, she lined up her luggage and went to get a good night's sleep. She is determined to change her fate. If Gideon would never give her the time of the day, then she would have to go. She would never beg for his attention again.
