Chapter fifteen Home

1281 Words
Third person POV The vacation had been wonderful they were coming home with a fiancé. They couldn’t wait to start planning the wedding, but they had business to attend to. A wild cult has come back to the area, the last time they had been in town several of their pack members had been abducted. The pack members that were taken were brainwashed and letters showed up at their families doors. Lame excuses about why they had run off. They needed to lockdown the pack lands and check on their members make sure the cult wasn’t returning for the families that had been left behind or break more families apart. Ashton carried Emma off the plan and threw the airport. Done carried all the bags with ease. Emma wasn’t happy to have her vacation cut short and after what they had seen from her memory they felt guilty. They had decided to move her mother into their home for safe keeping and to make their soon to be blushing bride happy. When they got to the car their father was waiting to drive them home. “Boys! How was your trip?” His smile was warm and welcoming. “Good, dad we got engaged!” Beamed Ashton as he nuzzled Emma’s neck. She giggled and blushed she was so cute. He loved when she was slightly embarrassed. “Congratulations on your engagement. I’m sorry your vacation was cut short.” He was stern now as he glanced at Emma. She wasn’t looking at her soon to be father-in-law, seemed to be too far away in thought. She always slipped away in her thoughts it drove them wild. The twins loaded her and their baggage into the Range Rover. Dome rode shot gun while Ashton insisted she sat in his lap. She cuddled into him and started out the window. Emma’s POV The twins and Alpha Grady launched into what was going on in the pack lands. I could have been listening to what was going on but I really didn’t care to. I watched as we sped through the bustling city, people dashed to bus stops as the buses wheezed down the streets. I never liked the city to me it was dark and dingy and smelled of polluted air. I watched the other drivers hastily switch lanes, half of them had the phones in their noses. I really only enjoyed looking at cities at night from afar I liked to see the city lights, then it looked pretty. I watched as the city melted away and slowly the trees and grass started to replace the high rises. I loved that bright green it was my favorite color. I gazed at the fields of green and some of the fields were amber from the wheat growing in it. I loved listening to the birds chirping as the soared threw the sky. The squirrels and chipmunks scampering about collecting their winter stash. The trees standing swaying slightly in the breeze. I loved the country. It was a half hour drive home normally but Alpha Grady was driving like a crazy person so the time would be cut in half. We took the sharp left turn up the mountain and scared a few deer out of the fields narrowly missing them. We accented the mountain, the brush got thicker the corn fields were larger and went in for miles. We passed our sign, “Welcome to La Quinn” I knew shortly we would pass my cottage. I could see the start of the only river stone wall of our property line. My mother’s rose bushes were thick and unkempt, the tree where my old tire swing still stood but the tire had long since fallen. I was expecting the grass to be wildly overgrown but oddly enough it was well maintained. I sat up straight as we passed the house, the pale yellow curtains still hung in the windows and I could’ve sworn I saw them twitch. The stone house looked as if it had been kept up after all these years, the blue shutters and blue door looked so welcoming. There was no smoke coming from the chimney but it was still summertime, the blue tin roof looked new. Had my mother sold the house and not told me? Maybe I had been imagining the curtains twitching, maybe it was wishful thinking. Oh how I longed for them to stop the car and let me go home. I imagined walking into the front door and hugging my mom. She used to be so beautiful. She had long curly black hair, fair skin, rose colored lips, blue eyes and a voluptuous hour glass figure. Now her hair has faded to white, she had wrinkles on her lovely face, she had been ravaged by the illnesses. Werewolves normally age slower than humans, as long as we shift often. But I don’t even recall seeing my mother shift. I wondered if her wolf would heal her or if there simply was not hope. I watched the house fade away and they drove to the pack house which was fifteen minutes from their house. I know that I’ve lived there for years and I hadn’t been home since I was little, but I would always consider the cottage home. I laid back on Ashton’s chest and closed my eyes as the rest of our small town whirled by the window. I felt him nuzzle my hair and kiss my forehead. I smiled into his chest knowing that he could feel it. I wasn’t looking forward to being home. The Luna had been suddenly warm to me which was nice but it was a bit overwhelming. We were pulling into the driveway of the lavish white Victorian home. No matter who long I lived here I wasn’t are I’d ever get use to it’s beauty. There were cars everywhere, parked alongside the road, some in the front yard which tells me the entire pack was swaying out return. Whatever had happened was bad enough that the meeting needed to happen the second we arrived. Lucinda was on the porch waiting to greet her boys. Ashton opened the door and set me down, I waited for them both in an attempt to hide behind my hulking mates. I really wanted to hide behind them but they both grabbed each of my hands and walked to the porch. “My boys!” Called her shrill voice. “I’m so happy your home I missed you so much.” She hugged them each. “We missed you too. But guess what? Your boys are getting married!” Ashton practically yelled. “She said yes! And has excepted both of us as her mates we couldn’t be happier.” Dom matched his brother’s excitement. “Oh, congratulations. Well I guess I’ll start planning an engagement party for you.” She sounded less that thrilled. She had been so nice before the vaccination but I feel like she’s changed her mind when she heard I was marrying both her sons. The door swing open, out stepped the Beta Andrew. “Guys we really need to talk,” he was tall with dark olive toned skin. His brown eyes were dark, the muscles in his jaws were contracting. He was not happy, he wasn’t as large as Dom but he was still very muscular. The boys nodded kissed my cheeks and followed their Beta into the house. It was filled with our pack, all anxious to see them and their mates. I watched as some of the single she-wolves shot daggers at me. If looks could kill I’d be six feet under.
