I wasn’t expecting anyone, so when I heard a knock on the door I got worried that it might be the same guys that broke into Ember and Elara’s house in the woods.
I picked up a stick and opened the door, but to my greatest shock, it was my mom. She has been away for a year now and never talked to me about coming back soon.
“Are you just going to stand there and watch me carry all these bags inside the house?” I immediately snapped out of my mindless thought and helped her carry the bag inside the house. I was confused because I couldn't think of the story to tell her when she saw Ember and Elara.
My mom has always been a very hard person, so I don't think she will accept them without a thorough investigation.
I rushed to follow her behind so that I could explain things to her
