Elara’s POV “f**k. f**k. f**k!!!” Lukas growls as he paces back and forth. I blink trying to get my eyes adjusted to my surroundings. The sun shines brightly through the windows and I cover my eyes with the pillow. “Elara!” he pulls the covers off me. “Get up!” I jerk up from the bed as my heart beats faster than normal. Lukas is regretting what we did last night. I’m sure of it. “W-What’s wrong?” “You’re gonna ask me that?” Lukas runs his fingers through his hair then punches the wall and leaves a dent. “Elara… Thalia’s my world! She–” “I’m sorry!” I sit up and rest my back against the bed. Tears are already threatening to fall but I hold it in and watch Lukas closely. If he makes any strange move I’ll bolt out the room. “Why did you let this happen, uh?” Lukas barks as he points at me. He’s breathing so loud I’m afraid he’s gonna hurt me. “You know what you were doing. You f*****g seduced me.” I hold the bed sheet close to my mouth. “What? I didn’t seduce you?” You wanted this as much as I do.” He throws his head back and laughs but his eyes are cold. “I didn’t want any of this.” Lukas throws his hands in the air. “I’m not gonna leave Thalia for you–” “The moon alter said—” “It’s bullshit, Elara,” he shakes the bed. “The moon alter will say any f*****g thing to get it’s will.” “It’s not.” "Thalia is my choice," he declares, his voice unyielding. "I won't let whatever this is between us ruin what I have with her." Lukas' words cut deep like a wound. How can he say something so awful like this to me? Biting my lip, I try to steady my voice and nod in response. "I understand," I manage to say, even though every word feels like a jagged edge cutting into my heart. "Yeah," Lukas grimaces as he nods. "But I can't stay here anymore, Lukas," I say. "I'm not gonna sit here and watch you be with her cos it's killing me." I look at him with tearful eyes. Lukas just frowns at me and then scoffs. “Get out of here!” He snaps, turning his back on me. I feel a sharp stab in my heart, as if he had just ripped it out of my chest. I realize that he doesn’t love me, that he never did. "Fine. But don’t expect me to come back. Ever." I quickly slip on my clothes and grab my bag and walk out of the door and run straight in Thalia. My hand is on the doorknob, fingers trembling, and I'm almost out when Thalia's voice slices through the air like a whip. "Why are you here?" I turn to face her as my heart slams against my ribs. I meet her gaze in the doorway. Her eyes, a mix of curiosity and something colder, lock onto mine. "U-uh," I manage to get out, my voice a little too high-pitched. She raises an eyebrow, that half-smile playing on her lips that I've come to dread. "And where are you rushing off to in such a hurry?" "I just came to see Lukas, that's all." Thalia's arms fold over her chest, and I can practically feel the tension radiating from her. "In his room? You couldn't talk to him when everyone's there?" I swallow hard, my throat dry. "No, it's not like that. It was important." She takes a step forward, and I'm suddenly very aware of how the corridor is. "Not like that? You always have an excuse ready, don't you?" I press my back against the door, my words barely audible. "Thalia, just try to understand..." "Understand?" Her voice rises, laced with something dangerous. "You think I'm going to watch you destroy everything I've built, Lukas?" The room feels suffocating, a heavy silence stretching between us. My breath catches, and I whisper, "I never meant for any of this..." Thalia's voice drops to a low, chilling tone. "You never meant to? That's your defense? How pathetic." Our eyes lock, a battle of emotions and words unspoken. The air hangs heavy, tension humming like a live wire. Thalia raises her hand to strike me and I close my eyes. "Leave me alone!" Thalia screams and I open my eyes to see Lukas holding her hand. He shakes his head and mouths ‘Don’t’ and I’m honestly grateful he’s here. But when he looks at me I can see the hate in his eyes. Thalia snatches her hand from him then looks at me. “Did you sleep with my man?” I swallow hard and back away and Lukas steps up again to stop Thalia from hitting me. This time I know he’s not doing all these to protect me. He just doesn’t want everyone to know what happened between us. “She’s not worth it Thalia.” Hearing him say that is so painful. I start crying and my mouth trembles as tears run down my cheeks. “Thalia… please. She’s leaving.” I run back to my room. As I hastily fold my clothes and stuff them into my bag, the fabric of my favorite sweater catches on a corner of the suitcase, and I tug at it with more force than necessary, frustration knotting my brow. My fingers fumble as I grasp the laces of my sneakers, the knots forming easily under my touch, as if they've become a familiar routine over the years, but my heart races as each tug feels like a finality I'm not ready to accept. Leaning against the doorframe, I allow my gaze to sweep over the room that had been my sanctuary within the pack's territory. The sunlight filters in, casting long shadows that seem to playfully dance over the memories hanging on the walls—photos of shared laughter and hunts, now it's just a memory. A choked sob escapes me as I step onto the threshold, my chest tightening with the weight of unspoken words that hang in the air, tangible like the scent of pine that clings to the woods surrounding the pack's territory. The morning breeze carries with it the distant howls of the pack members, a sound that once brought comfort but now only stirs the storm within. With each step away from the only home I've known for five years, a torrent of memories crashes through my mind like a relentless wave.
