(Ashley POV)
“Father! Are you okay?” I asked him when he was looking deep in thoughts.
“Father? Father!!!” I waved my hand in front of his eyes.
“Yes, Ashley!” He gave me a weak smile, which was filled with worry and tension.
“Father! You are not taking your medication on time, and now you are lost in thought. Is everything okay?” I asked in a worried tone.
“Yes, Ash! I just forgot to take my medicine yesterday. Don’t worry, I will keep track of my medicine from now on, okay?” He answered, but there was something strange in his tone.
“Ashley! I want to share something with you today,” He said after a long pause, and I put my spoon of cereal in the bowl.
“Yes, sure! What is it?” I wanted to know the reason behind his worries and want to solve them all at once.
“Umm… I selected a groom for you. I want you to meet him tomorrow, okay?” He informed me and I froze in my place. I wanted to tell him about the handsome stranger but something made me stop.
“O-okay, Father! I will,” I forced a smile on my lips.
“Godd, good! I assure you that he is a good man. He will cherish you and love you,” He answered and I gave him a weak nod. I didn’t want to say ‘No’ to him today, so when he left, I quickly finished my cereal and packed things for that stranger. I hope he will wake up soon and then I will convince my father for him. I thought and quickly left my pack house. I was about to enter the forest when I felt a wave of sadness in my heart. I turned to look at my pack house and clutched my mom’s necklace around my neck. It started glowing green, and I kissed it.
“I am missing you, Mom,” I said, and then headed towards the cave, but I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw the empty cave. I quickly entered and checked every corner of that small cave, but he wasn’t present there. A deep wave of sadness engulfed my heart. He didn’t even wait for me to come back. I leaned against the wall and put my backpack on the ground.
“Maybe he didn’t even hear or feel my presence around him all these years,” I tried to give myself a lame excuse when my wolf whimpered with pain.
“Don’t worry! He will find us soon. After all, He is our other half,” I said to my wolf, but my heart was bleeding with pain. I stayed there for almost an hour, and then I decided to shift into my wolf form and go for a run to clear my mind. I quickly changed into my magnificent wolf form and ran like hell. I was just about to touch the northern border when I heard blood-curdling screams through my mind link. I stopped in my tracks and headed straight towards the pack house. It took me almost fifteen minutes to reach there, but the moment I saw my pack house, my heart stopped beating.
I changed back to my human form, threw a tee and shorts before heading towards the door. The garden was filled with our soldiers’ bodies and it felt like a war zone instead of my home. The left side of our house was burning on fire like someone wanted to end all the damn proof of our pack house’s existence. I threw open the door and rushed towards my dad’s office. No one was present there, and my mind was alarmed by something worse.
“Father!!!”
“FATHER!!! WHERE ARE YOU?” I called him at the top of my lungs.
“FATH…”
“Ashley! I am h-here,” I heard his weak voice and spun towards him. He was present near the dining room’s door.
“Father! Oh my God!!! We have to take you to the hospital,” I gasped when I saw the bullet marks on his body. Someone shot him for 6-7 times in his chest.
“No, Ashley! I don’t have much time, so hear me carefully. David did all this with the help of Jack and some senior members of the Shadow pack. They…” Before he could tell me further, he vomited blood on my hand.
“Dad!!!” I screamed in panic, but he squeezed my hand to calm me.
“I am okay. They killed every single member of our pack for the sake of power and money. You h-have t-to take r-rev-revenge for all of u-us, Promise m-me?” He opened his palm in front of me, and tears were rolling down my eyes like waterfalls. I put my blood-covered hand on his hand.
“I am sorry, Dad! I failed to protect you… I am sorry… I am late,” I hugged him, and he patted my back, and I cried harder.
“Y-you have to run otherwise they will k-kill you too. Y-you have to L-live to take our r-revenge, okay?” He patted my cheek, and I nodded when we heard the sound of footsteps, he pushed me away.
“Go away… Run…Run, Ashley,” He ordered me in his weak voice, and I shook my head in no, but then he closed his eyes and took his last breath in front of me before leaving me in this cruel world forever.
“DAD!!!” I screamed and hugged his lifeless body for a few minutes when the voices got louder. I quickly ran through a secret passageway to the forest, but I hid behind a tree to see the faces of my enemies.
“Are you sure no one is left alive?” I heard a deep, authoritative voice.
“Yes, Alpha! Everyone is dead in the Blue Moon Pack. There is no Blue Moon Pack from now on,” He nodded after hearing it and look towards my side, I quickly hid behind the tree. I saw the Shadow Pack’s signs on their uniforms and their weapons. “So, They came here to make sure no one is left alive, right?” I thought with disgust.
“Then let’s go,” He said, and turned his face towards his soldiers when I noticed his face. My face paled with horror because he was the same person I rescued a few days ago. I can’t believe I saved this snake a few days ago, and the first thing he did after waking up is killing every single member of my pack.
“And the fire?” He asked.
“Don’t worry! I will arrange something for it too,” his man answered, and I want to strangle myself for saving this man. I saw my hands, which were covered with my father’s blood.
“Let’s go to the Shadow pack then,” He ordered his men.
“Yes, Alpha!” They said in unison, and I closed my eyes and let my tears fall on the ground.
“One minute! I have to check one place before going back,” He said, and my eyes snapped open. F*ck! I left my backpack in the cave. I remembered, and I changed into my wolf form and ran towards the caves with lightning speed. I picked up the backpack with my mouth and left the cave. He arrived a few minutes after me and checked every corner of the cave but found no trace of me.
“F*ck! I missed her again,” He kicked the nearby stone, and I snarled in anger.
“What do you want to find, Alpha? We can search it for you,” His loyal soldier answered, and I gritted my teeth in anger. He shook his head in no.
“Nothing! Let’s go back to the shadow pack. Our people will be waiting for us,” He answered and quickly changed into a giant black wolf before running towards his pack. I changed back to my real form and fell on my knees.
“I hate you so much,” I let out a scream of agony before crying my heart out over the loss of my loved ones.
“I will kill every single member and will ruin you like you did to me,” I vowed and stood up with determination.
“You can recognize me with my scent, but what if I change it?” I said, and then I remembered about the witch, who can sell and change the scents of mates. I wiped my tears and headed towards the forbidden and darker part of the forest. I know what I have to do for my revenge now.
