As Claire ran,she suddenly found herself face to face with a couple in a compromising position. She had caught them in the act, and they were clearly not expecting to be interrupted.
The guy was hastily pulling up his pants, while the girl was struggling to adjust her dress, which seemed to have gotten tangled around her waist. Claire's eyes widened in surprise, and she let out a mortified "Oh no, sorry!" before covering her eyes.
The couple, realizing they had been caught, looked at each other in embarrassment, before the guy turned to Claire and said, "Uh, can you just give us a minute?"
But before they could even compose themselves, Claire blurted out, "I think the killer is after me! We have to get out of here, now!"
The guy's eyes went wide, and he grabbed the girl's hand, shouting "Killer? Oh crap, we're next!" before they both took off in a sprint, with the girl's high heels clicking wildly on the deck and her dress flying behind her like a cape.
As they ran, Claire heard the girl's panicked voice shouting "My underwear is showing! My underwear is showing!" which only added to the absurdity of the situation. Claire couldn't help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, even as she was trying to escape from a potential killer.
As they ran, the guy led the way, and they were able to come out to a more familiar area of the ship. Claire recognized the surroundings and quickly headed towards the reception area, hoping to find safety and assistance.
The couple, still in a panic, followed close behind. As they emerged from the corridor, the girl suddenly shouted at the guy, "You left me! You left me behind!" The guy, still running, turned around and scooped her up in a dramatic hug, kissing her forehead and reassuring her, "I'll never leave you, baby! I love you!"
But just as it seemed like they were having a romantic moment, the guy's head snapped up, and he looked around nervously. He had heard a sound, and his expression changed from loving to terrified. "Oh no, it's the killer!" he shouted, before taking off again, leaving the girl to stumble after him.
The girl's voice echoed down the corridor, "Wait! Come back! You're leaving me again!" But the guy was already gone, disappearing around the next corner. Claire, who was watching from a distance, couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity of the situation. The couple's antics were providing a much-needed distraction from the danger that was still lurking on the ship.
"Hi, I need to speak to someone about a problem I'm having," Claire said,
The receptionist looked up at her. "What seems to be the issue, ma'am?"
Claire took a deep breath. "I was just being chased by someone on the promenade deck. I think it might be the same person who killed that couple earlier."
The receptionist raised an eyebrow. "How sure are you of this?"
Claire hesitated, realizing that she didn't have any concrete evidence. But she was determined to move on and have fun, despite what had happened with Alex. "I'm positive," she said firmly. "And I'm not going to let it ruin my holiday. I want to pay for my own room and continue with my stay."
The receptionist nodded, seemingly impressed by Claire's determination. "Alright, ma'am. I'll process the payment for your new room. But please, be careful. We'll increase security around the ship, but we can't guarantee your safety."
As Claire walked to her new room, she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief and independence. She was taking control of her holiday, and she was determined to have a good time, no matter what.
As she turned a corner, she didn't notice the pool behind her. She took a step back, lost her balance, and nearly fell into the water. But just as she was about to hit the surface, a strong hand grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
Claire was shocked and disoriented. She looked up to see Lucas, the guy she had accused of killing the couples, staring back at her with a mixture of concern and amusement.
Without thinking, Claire pushed Lucas away and started yelling at him. "Get away from me! You're a murderer! I know you killed those couples!"
Lucas looked taken aback by Claire's outburst. "Whoa, hey, calm down! What's going on? Why do you think I killed anyone?"
But Claire wasn't having it. She continued to rant and rave, calling Lucas all sorts of names. Lucas, however, remained calm and composed, which only seemed to infuriate Claire more.
Finally, Lucas asked, "Seriously, what's going on? Why do you think I'm a killer?"
''well.. because of the way you were staring at me,and moving around in the ship,I thought there was something off about you, okay I think you are a killer because of....my..''
She paused trying to find a word,
''My instincts,that's it my instincts.''
Just as Lucas was about to respond to Claire's accusation, his phone burst in his pocket. He stayed there for a moment before pulling it out and glancing at the screen. The message read:
"You're on the ship. Keep her close but don't let her find out the truth. You understand?"
Lucas's expression remained neutral as he tucked the phone back into his pocket. "So, where were we?" he asked Claire, continuing the discussion as if nothing had happened.
