Anika's Point of View
Mabilis akong sumunod sa sala to know what my parents will going to say. If it's about boyfriend, kahit pa pumuti ang mga mata nila.
They both laughed and Mom poked my right shoulder. "Don't worry because this is a serious matter," Mommy stated while smiling.
Mas lalo akong kinabahan.
"What do you mean?" nag-aalangan kong tanong habang palipat-lipat ng tingin sa kanilang dalawa.
Mom looked at Dad.
"Will you leave me again?" I added.
"Anak, you are already twenty four and the thing is..." Dad paused as he held my both hands.
"Daddy, don't beat around the bush. Alam kong twenty four na ako, and so?" I crossed my brows trying to understand their actions.
"Let me say it, you annoyed me too," masungit na sinabi ni Mommy kay Daddy.
I rolled my eyes and was about to leave when they both grabbed my shoulders.
"Okay, I'll go straight," maagap na wika ni Mom. "starting tomorrow, you must get a job."
I crossed my brows. I'm excited and at the same time, worried.
"Are you serious about it?" I asked to make sure that they aren't joking.
"Before managing our family business, you should know first how does it feel to be an employee so that you would understand your subordinates once you become the CEO."
I get Mom's point. "But how would I do that? Can I apply in our company?"
"No," maagap na sagot ni Mommy. "you have the rights to choose which company you prefer but not ours."
Napasimangot ako. I am hesitant to go outside and make interactions with other people.
"Is this a punishment?"
"Then don't hesitate to. Besides, you'll learn more in the outside. Just take me as an example," she advised.
I sighed. I'll just listen to her since she experienced the same thing.
"Alright! I'll gonna update you tomorrow!" my last words before hanging up the phone and threw myself on the bed.
Now that time is too fast, maaga akong gumising just to be a job seeker. I am wearing my white blouse together with my favorite black pencil cut skirt na galing pang Paris. I guess it will bring me good luck. Dala ko rin ang Curriculum Vitae ko with my prettiest 2 × 2 picture on the upper right side.
"It's not easy to find a job, actually," hingal kong wika sa sarili ko habang inaaninag ang malaking pangalan ng company na nasa harapan ko. Masyado nang mataas ang araw that's why I couldn't read it properly because of those glass windows.
I composed myself before entering.
She scaned me through her eyes from head to feet. I suddenly felt uncomfortable.
"May I know if there is still vacancy for this position?" then I pointed what position I want that was written on my paper.
She paused for a while at tiningnan niya ulit ako mula ulo hanggang paa.
"Are you sure, Ma'am this is what you are applying for?" Her expression is confused but he managed to act normally.
"Yes, what's wrong?" I asked in confusion.
She smiled and shook her head.
I nodded and felt relieved. I am sure, this company will hire me.
After hours of pre-orientation about my job and signing the contract, makakauwi na rin ako.
"Hmmm... seems like our daughter accomplished her first mission," Mommy commented.
"I am proud of having her," segunda ni Daddy.
I am proud to myself too for making them proud of me.
"You nailed it, Dad!" masaya kong wika habang hawak ko ang kontratang pinirmahan ko.
"What company?" excited na tanong ni Mommy.
I checked the upper part of my paper and read it, "Capistrano Company."
"Whoah! That's a good start, anak!" Dad screamed in excitement.
"Ako pa," I winked at them.
"What position you are hired for? But based on your reaction, it seems like you got a higher one!" Mom exclaimed.
"I am hired as a..." binitin ko sila at hindi nga ako nagkamali dahil halos hindi na nila maikurap ang mga mata nila. "as a janitress!"
