EPISODE 1: The House at Willow Hill
Eleanor Grace had never liked old houses. They creaked at night, smelled of dust, and seemed to hold memories that belonged to people long forgotten. Yet when her grandmother left her Willow Hill House, Eleanor couldn't bring herself to sell it. One rainy afternoon, while repairing a damaged section of the bedroom wall, Eleanor noticed something unusual. Behind the loose wooden panel was a small metal box. Inside was a single yellowed envelope. There was no return address. Only one date was written across the front. October 17, 1945. Eleanor's hands trembled as she opened it. Inside was a letter. The first line read: My dearest Clara, Eleanor stared at the name. Her grandmother's name had been Margaret. So who was Clara? And why had someone hidden a love letter inside the wall? Eleanor read the letter beneath the soft light of the kitchen. The handwriting was elegant but hurried. Thomas wrote about returning home after the war. He described the smell of the ocean, the sound of trains, and the dream of seeing Clara standing at the station waiting for him. But one sentence made Eleanor stop. "If I do not return by winter, please believe that I tried." She read it again. Then again. At the bottom was Thomas's full name. Thomas William Bennett. Eleanor searched the internet but found almost nothing. Then she remembered an old photograph hanging in the hallway. Her grandmother had always called the man in the picture "Grandfather." Eleanor rushed upstairs. She stared at the photograph. A young soldier stood beside a woman. She had seen the photograph hundreds of times. But she had never noticed the initials written on the back. T.B. Eleanor's heart began racing.
