Chapter 5

As I watched the pack members leave,my mind couldn't stop thinking about the female standing beside me, she was so strong and resilient, yet I could sense the fear lurking beneath her surface.

I felt a pang of regret for not being honest to her with my true intentions. She was my mate and I was hiding it from her.I knew it was for her own protection, but I still don't like the way I kept it from. The piece of parchment seemed to mock me, it's a strange message, a reminder of the danger that lurks through the shadows. I had to keep her safe,but at what cost?, I asked myself .

As I glanced at her, our eyes met, a jolt of electricity ran through my body. I knew I had to be careful, to keep my emotions in check. But it was getting hard to keep the connection between us.

I took a deep breath and turned to face her, “Let's get you back to the quarters”, I said , trying to sound nonchalant ,” it's not safe for you to be out here alone”. She nodded and we walked in silence, the tension between us was tense. I knew I had to tell her the truth, but for now, I just wanted to keep her safe.

As we walked, my mind kept racing with thoughts of Autumn, I couldn't help but wonder what she was feeling, thinking. Was she starting to trust me?Did she sense the connection between us?.

I knew I had to be careful not to reveal too much, but it was getting harder to keep my emotions in check,Every time she looked at me, It felt like I was drowning into her eyes.

The silence between us was oppressive,I didn't know what to say, I didn't want to scare her off, I can't keep the truth from her forever.

As we approached the quarters, l slowed my pace,”I'll make sure you're safe “, I said trying to reassure her,”You can trust me”.

I looked at her searching for any sign of understanding,but her expression was guarded , and I couldn't read her thoughts.

As I felt her disappear to into her quarters I felt a pang of longing , I wanted to be with her, protect her and protect and care for her,I want to tell her about my feelings, our connection.But the fear of rejection and the danger that lurked outside held me back, I knew I had to wait for the right moment.

For now I had to keep my desires in check.

As I patrolled the park territory my senses were at alert , I found myself drawn back to quarters, I decided to check on her, I approached her door quietly listening for any movement. And then I heard it , a whisper like a sob, without hesitation, I pushed open the door and entered. The room was dimly lit but I could see her sitting down on the bed with her head buried in her hands.

My heart skipped a bit as I saw her sitting, her body shaking with sobs. Regret washed over me for not being there sooner, I approached her slowly not wanting to startle her, as I sat down beside her , she looked up , her eyes red and puffy from crying.

For a moment we stared at each other,the only sound was her ragged breathing, I could see the fear and uncertainty in her eyes , it broke my heart.

Without thinking, I pulled her for a gentle hug,she did not resist, instead she leaned more, I felt a sense of calm. I knew I had to be there, to protect and care for her.

Her body stopped trembling, and she leaned into me,her head resting on my shoulders,I wrapped my hand around her feeling a sense of contentment.

For a moment, the world outside didn't matter,the threat, the danger, uncertainties, all faded away, all that mattered at this moment was the feeling of connection and comfort. I breathed in her scent feeling my wolf calm , I knew I would do anything to make her happy. As I looked at her , I saw her eyes fluttering close and breathing was normal. She was falling asleep in my hands and I felt a sense of pride and responsibility.

As I held her close, I made a silent promise to myself. I would do everything to keep her safe, to protect her from any harm, I would be her rock and her shelter.

I looked down at the peaceful face, and many emotions kept erupting. I knew I had to tell her the truth about her connection, about her being my mate, but for a while, I just wanted to savor this moment of closeness and affection.

As I held her, I realized that my perspective of life had changed. Before, my focus was protecting my pack and territory, but now my focus is protecting her and making her happy. I thought of things to do , to make her life easier, to make her happy and keep her by my side. I gently stroked her hair, feeling a sense of comfort and happiness. My wolf was so happy that our mate was in our hands sleeping. For the first time in my life it felt like I found a true purpose.

I thought about the day that I met her , the way she had captured my attention with her strength and determination. I had been drawn to her from the start, but now I felt a deeper connection.

My wolf Kane, stirred within me , sensing my emotions and reacting to her presence, he was calm and peaceful, knowing that she was safe in his arms. As I looked down at her, I knew I had found my partner, my soul mate and my companion. My wolf growls softly in agreement , I leaned in, my lips brushing against her forehead and whispered “ You're mine”.

I found myself staring at her features,the gentle curve of her nose ,the fullness of her lips, her delicate green eyes that has captivated me.

I wonder what lay beneath her calm face,what secret she kept hidden from the world. What we're her dreams,her fears, her desires?. The more I knew her, the more I realized how little I understood her. I wanted to know everything about her,what made her happy and what made her sad. I would uncover the secret she kept hidden.

Her eyelid began to flutter,she slowly opened them,she stretched her body arching against mine, my wolf started staring “let's take mate here”, but I shut him, I would not allow my desires to take over, and bring her insecurities around me, I would be careful not to scare her.

She looked up at me, her gaze unfocused at first,But as soon as she realized our intimate position, a small blush spread around her cheeks, I smiled. I gently brushed a strand of her hair behind her ear , she leaned into my touch.

“Good morning”, I whispered, my voice low and husky. Her eyes met mine , I saw a spark of curiosity, a sense of surprise or maybe a wonder, she didn't pull away and I took that as a good sign.

We lay there in silence, this was what I had been missing all my life, being with someone who made me feel whole. My wolf and I were at peace .

The air was filled with unspoken words.We sat there for a moment, enjoying each other's presence. The silence was comfortable and soothing.

I had to go attend to the park duties, “I'll be going”, I said, she hugged me to my surprise, I was speechless, I leaned into her embrace, we did not want to leave each other, my beta came in, there I knew I had to leave, I quickly kissed her forehead and told her goodbye.

“Do you have any suggestion on who wrote that parchment”, said Levi, I had no idea who could have done such a thing,My thought went back to my mate, is she fine?, I asked myself, “Gale we need to do something as fast as possible”, I stroked my chin, I only thought of someone who could do such a thing, Sebastian Williams, he was an old enemy, he tried to claim our pack ones, but he did not get to do it, I think he's the one behind the parchment. But how did he know about Autumn?Do they have anything together?Many thoughts came rushing in. I tried to figure out how they could have clashed.

For a while, I kept thinking, the door opened, revealing my beautiful mate, her full plump lips were put to my display, I wanted to taste how sweet they were, she smelled like roses. “ I brought you some snacks”, you look tired, that was so thoughtful of her, immediately my thoughts were filled with her, she had already got me wrapped around her fingers but didn't know. I tasted the snacks,”oh this tastes delicious”,she blushed, I actually don't want her to stres herself in any chores, she's my mate, My Luna, I want to treasure her, immediately Levi rushed in “ we're under a attack”.
