The day after Matt’s “date” with Maddy, the Renegades had flown to Boston for an away game. Matt had skipped the optional game-day morning skate, and stayed in his hotel room, trying to get Maddy out of his head. But it was no use. She was a permanent fixture. And not like she used to be. Things were different now between them. He wasn’t that obtuse to miss that the other night.
