"You won't be fired if you agree to this deal," He spoke and as she looked into his eyes, she noticed the lust practically spilling out of them, making her wonder yet she was curious about the proposition.

"Which is?" She let the two words slide easily of her tongue as she searched his eyes,

"You become my little play toy."

i - jobless and sad
"you must tell yourself "no matter how hard it is, or how hard it gets i'm going to make it"" ** I groaned as I threw myself back in my chair. I had the joy of proof reading some persons article for our magazine 'You Saw It Here', and it was the definition of terrible. Really, look terrible up in the dictionary and you will see this article there. I cracked my fingers and my neck before I sat up to make this mess somewhat readable. It was a job that seemed impossible to me, but it was my job and I couldn't just not do it even-though I wished that I could just throw it in the bin. When I signed up for this job, I had not expected that I would be proof reading other people articles. I was a good writer and an English Major, so the fact that I was proof reading was incredible annoying. I loved writing and I had had so many ideas over the years that people either had stolen from me, or that I gave to Kaitlyn - since I could not use them for s**t. 'Hey, I just met you and this is crazy, but here's my number...' I groaned at the bad song but for my defence, my bestfriend chose this ringtone when she was bored and I just never bothered to change it back. Looking at my phone and seeing my bosses name flashing, I sighed heavily. It was never anything good when he wanted to talk with anyone first time in the morning. Stretching my back before I walked out of my cubicle, I made my way down to his office. His office suddenly seemed so far away, and I started to dread what would happen down there. Was this finally it? Could it happen that I would get promoted? After a year I may finally be recognized. I did a little victory dance inside my head, before popping open the door into his office. “You rang?” I said a little too happy as I stepped inside. He motioned for me to take a seat in front of his desk, as he sat back in his chair and folded his hands. “Yes Safiya,” He said without indicating that anything good would happen and I got the feeling that I wasn't here to get a promoting. I stumbled my way over to the chair and sat down. He looked me in the eyes and I swore I could see a little happiness shining. “You are fired.” My whole world came tumbling down in front of me as I looked at my – well, now former – boss. I stammered, choked and finally gave up on saying anything. He never really did like me and I guess he finally saw his opportunity to get rid of me. “You see, we have to cut down on our employees. We have way too many and not enough money nor space. You are not that important which is why you are laid off first.” He said with a small smile that he tried to hide. I rolled my eyes at the last words he said, clenched my fist and counted to ten in my head before I rose from the chair. “I am sure that I could find something better anyway.” I spat the words at him and huffed. I stormed out of his office, almost tackling Victoria – his assistant – to the floor. I mumbled out an apology and went straight to my cubicle. I all but smacked down my computer, stuffed it in my bag, got my phone and stormed out once again. It was first when I was outside that reality hit me. I didn't have a job anymore. I had no income. No way to continuing living. I might as well be homeless. Tears started to roll down my cheeks, and before I knew of it, I was full out sobbing. Just when I thought everything couldn't be better – except that stupid article. But at least now I did not have to proof read that mess. I jumped onto my sofa with a tub of Ben & Jerry in one hand and the newspaper in the other. I had two pens in my mouth and probably sat on top of my phone seeing as I had tossed it onto the sofa first, after I had texted Kaitlyn and told her the bad news. I sighed as my hunt towards another job now found place. I circled the jobs that I wanted with a red pen, while I circled the once I might want in case the others didn't turn out to be anything with a blue pen. 'Mitchel's cow milking – in search of a cow milker', yeah that did not seem as a great job. Stripper, truck driver, bla bla, marketing – yes I love when random people ring my phone up and starts saying a lot of things, I would totally love to be one of those people. I almost gave up on finding any jobs in this newspaper and was just about to toss it away, when an ad caught my attention, 'Assistant wanted – Law firm.' Assistant wasn't exactly my expertise, but it couldn't be that hard .. right? “Anemone Safiya, answer your damn phone.” Kaitlyn barged into my apartment, walking straight towards me and slapped my arm. I hit her back before rubbing my arm and sending her a killer look. I stood up and took my phone that I indeed had sat on top of, “Didn't hear it ring, ya goof.” Putting the phone in my back pocket, I picked up my melted Ben & Jerry and walked out towards my kitchen with Kaitlyn following me like a kid. We had known each-other since forever. We grew up together, went to school together, we even had the same job until now. She was my bestfriend and I would never go through life without her. “Why did he fire you?” She jumped onto my counter, snatching an apple and biting into it. I shrugged my shoulders as I opened my freezer, “He said they had to cut down on employees and since I “was not that important”, he fired me first.” I replied, making air quotes around a few of the words. “He can't just do that! I will quit.” She complained with anger seeping through the words. I spun around to face her with shock on my face, “No! You need that job Kate. I am already searching for new jobs, I saw one ad with someone searching for an assistant. Maybe I will try to get an interview there.” I mentioned with the hope that she wouldn't quit her job. She really loved that job, but she didn't have to re-write articles, she wrote them herself. “Fine,” she groaned. “Call them now, I want to hear if you can get it.” She jumped down, and walked into the living room to get the newspaper with the wanted ad. I wasn't actually keen on talking on the phone with someone else in the room, it just felt so awkward you know? I can't be the only one who thinks that. It suddenly hit me, “Shouldn't you be at work?” I asked with my eyebrow raised. Her beautiful red hair covered most of her face, but I could see the innocent smile poking trough, “Well you see, I became worried when you didn't answer, so I told him that I was sick.” She grinned with a small shrug and a fake cough. I laughed and shook my head at her. I could always count on that girl. I fished my phone up from my pocket and typed in the number. I shushed Kate who was jumping around like a little child and grinning from ear to ear making her blue eyes shine bright. 'Frazier & Bauer, this is Skye what can I do for you?' A happy voice came through and it made me a little more confident in myself. “Yes hello, this is Safiya Roosevelt. I saw an ad in the newspaper, that you are searching for a new assistant. I would like to hear if I could get an interview?” I asked trying to sound professional, a thing I had never really tried before. 'Oh of course! We actually have time at 4 PM, if you would available there?' She suggested with the same happy tone as before. I couldn't help but feel a little happy talking to her, it was like the happiness from her voice infected mine. That sounds disgusting actually. Forget that I said that. “I would love to! Thank you.” I replied as I gave Kate thumbs up, at which she made a little stupid dance that made me laugh a little. 'That sounds great, see you there. Have a pleasant day.' She beamed and I wished her the same and hung up. Kate cheered even louder and I couldn't help but do the same. “So? When do you have the interview?” She asked with joy overtaking her face. “In five hours,” I replied with a nervous smile. Her eyes became the size of a tea cup and she rushed over to grab ahold of me, “Five hours?” She squeaked and pulled my towards my bedroom. I laughed quietly, she had always loved to dress me up seeing as I hated to do it. For my sake I could easily go into a night club with sweatpants and hoodie with a little stain, but nooo Kate would kill me if I did that. “Calm down Kate, it's five hours. Not five minutes.” I joked but she shot me a killer look and pushed me into the bathroom. 'She's trowing me around like I'm some meat' I huffed inside my head. “Go. Take a shower. Now.” Kate demanded and shut the door on her way out. I rolled my eyes but stripped out of my clothes and turned the water on. I would always put it on hot so it would get warm faster, then turn it more to the cold side before getting in. I am not the biggest fan of warmth, I would rather freeze my ass off than dying off heat. You can always take on more clothes, but you can't take more of when you are dying of heat. ** “You have got to be kidding me,” I groaned when I turned around to look at myself in the mirror. A dark grey skirt hugged my curves in the right way, but maybe it was a little too revealing. The skirt went perfect with the red shirt I had on, and that too was a little too revealing. It showed my cleavage a little more than I felt comfortable with. “This is too much Kate.” Kate stood grinning behind me, “Oh no, when you have the curves you gotta show them off. Besides, this will almost guarantee you a job.” she stated with that devious smile. “You know, sometimes I wonder why we are friends.” I remarked with a smirk, but yelped when she hit me on the arm. “Because you can't live without me, duh.” she replied as if it was the most obvious answer in the world.  "Now come on, you gotta ace this interview." "I have only been to one interview before Kait, just like you? How would I even know how to ace that interview?" I said with a grunt and looked over at her. "Just use your irresistible charm, trust me no one can stand for that. Maybe even throw in some puppy eyes and you are good to go," she said with a grin and gave me two thumbs up. I laughed a little and shook my head at her, she always knew what to say. I took a last look of myself in the mirror with a heavy sigh, and said quietly to myself,  'I can do this shit.'
