I wake up before dawn. Good, I need all the time I can get. It's a big day after all, I'm staring a war. The more time I spend on this island, the more power I get. And knowledge. Skylanders are acting like they're superior beings, but all they have are wings and power of knowledge. They are no better or worse than us. They know more than us, they know when souls are coming and they can change their path. That's what happened to my family. They sensed my soul is different and they wanted to lure me on their side. Big mistake. I will end them all. I just need to get Dimitri on my side, Nik would never let me end an entire species. I get up and take a quick shower. Well, as quick as I can with these wings. They're huge and take up a lot of space. I might go flying today, put them to some use. I dress in my standard clothes and go downstairs. Silence. I'm the first one up. I make myself coffee in the kitchen and go outside. I look up at the roof, calculating. What are the odds of flying up there without spilling my coffee? I give it a shot. Flying is like walking, you do it automatically without much of a thought. I find myself on the roof, coffee splashing my hand. Great. At least I have half a cup left. I sit there for a while drinking coffee and watch the sunrise. The sky turns purple, like a giant bruise. Then comes the green and blue hues. Colors mix and swirl all around. It's beautiful I can't look away. Then a splash of bright red pierces the dark colors and sun peeks out, pure white. I shield my eyes, not being able to look directly at it. Why does it have to be so bright? The blues, greens, purples and reds all disappear leaving only white light.
"What the hell are you doing up there?" Cam yells from the lawn.
"Mourning the loss of cigarettes!" I yell back.
"It was a disgusting habit anyway. Come down, everyone's up."
Really? I can't even have coffee in peace? I jump down, contents of my cup splashing directly on Cam's head. Perfect.
"Oops" I say with an innocent look "Sorry, I didn't think."
"I'm sure that's true" he says with annoyed look and goes inside. With a smile worth of entrance to hell I go inside too. Nik looks serious again. Twins are sitting on the sofa, Trevor and Adrian standing behind them. Total silence, like the room is empty. No one here knows how to live.
"Morning, Mina" he says.
"Morning" I answer and add "When are honorary guests arriving?"
"Patience" he says with a sigh. I know he's a few centuries old but that's no excuse to act like a grandpa. I'm thirty but still act like I'm fifteen.
"And patient I will be." I say and immediately deserve one of the looks from him reserved specially for my attitude.
"They are coming soon so we need to prepare. No one will say a single word without my permission, no one will use powers under any circumstances"
"What if they attack us? We can't defend ourselves?" I interrupt him. The look he gives me chills me to the bones. Now I understand why he's the leader.
"Never interrupt me again." he turns back to everyone "You will not use powers, you will not provoke anyone" and with that he turns to the approaching Adonis Cam "You got that?"
"Yes, sir" Cam says with a grin. I didn't notice by now how hansome he is. Tall as everyone here, but a little leaner. Ink black hair, dark green eyes, full lips, killer attitude.
Nik sighs again " If these two don't start a war I've been holding off for a century I don't know who will."
"Is that a permission?" I say cheerfully.
He opens his mouth, but at that moment we all feel it. A shift in the air, a feeling of wrongness. Wind starts blowing, the sea looks angry with it's waves going insane. The Island is warning us. The door opens and they walk in. As I see them I automatically know who they are. Tall, bulky, blonde with black eyes same as Nik's, Dimitri, Elemental of water. Daniel by his right side, a tall, skinny, blonde boy with innocent face, Elemental of air. Victor to his left, huge and bulky, with dark red, messy hair and dark blue eyes. Leader of their Soldiers. And the twins, Malachi and Melekai. Black haired and blue eyed, they look like two bears. Massive, bigger and taller than any of the others. Malachi is the lower Elemental, he has power over animals. Kai is the Elemental of darkness. No one knows how his powers actually work except his victims. Strange, they all look like a replica of us. Same stances, same positions, same numbers. All they're missing is a girl like me. But who am I kidding? There are no girls like me. One of the twins catches my attention. Kai. He's got a scar from his right temple, over the eye and to the corner of his mouth. By the looks of it from a knife. Pure violence and insanity show in his eyes, he can't hide it. He's an animal, a terrible being. But I can't stop looking at him. In spite of all the terrible things I sense in him, I feel safe. I keep staring, rooted in place. He stares back. Oh no. Oh God no.
"Oops" says Cam "Looks like we have a winner". It's the first time I see Nik really angry. I feel it coming off of him, waves and waves of rage and jelaousy.
I just found my soulmate. He's going to be very angry when I reject him. Nothing changes, I am still married and I am still getting my family back. But at the same time everything changed. This is going to get very complicated.
