Chaos
What happens when we die? Is that the end of our existence? Do we just disappear? Are there heaven and hell? Or is there something entirely different? My head is pounding. My eyelids are heavy. I try to open them and fail miserably. So I just sit there and let the waves rock me. Wait, why am I sitting and why am I rocking?! My eyes fly open in panick. The first thing I see is the face of an angel. A girl, couldn't be older than eighteen, with brown curly hair. She's very pale but seems peacefully asleep even though she's strapped in her seat. I look around and see there are two rows of seats facing each other. In every one of them is a girl beautiful as a picture. A little further down I see there are boys too. And men and women, all strapped in their seats, all sleeping. To my right I see a door. Testing the straps that are holding me in my seat I realize they are very easy to take off. Strange. I stand up and walk to the door. As I open it I just stare in shock for a full minute. Two more rows of seats and in each sitting a huge man with a stone cold face, wide awake. They look like soldiers. All wearing black and all staring at me in silence. What am I doing here? One of them catches my eye. I keep thinking " no no no no". Adrian. My ex boyfriend. I haven't seen or heard from him in years. Both of us got married in the meantime and have families. So what is he doing here? And what am I doing here? White hot rage burns through me but I rein it in. As calmly as I can, I walk up to him and ask "Where am I?". Bastard bursts out laughing. With a little rage seeping into my voice I try again "Why am I here, Adrian? And where is "here"?! " Through laughter he says "I guess this means you're meant to be kneeling before me". Rage takes over me. I grab his bald head and smash it against my knee four times. Then I grab him by the shoulders and throw him across the room. Another soldier tries to interfere and I break his nose with my fist and kick him in the gut, sending him to the floor. A colective shock that follows paralizes us all. How did I do that? I'm just a skinny girl and they are both twice my weight. Before I could analyse it any further the tallest man I have ever seen pushes through the chaos and says in a deep voice "Enough". His eyes are black as night, no hint of other colours. His hair is also black, same as his clothes. His face is pale and serious as death itself. All I can think of is I have never seen a man more handsome. I couldn't take my eyes off him until he spoke again. "I guess you aren't a slave after all." he says calmly. That makes my blood boil all over again. "Who the hell are you calling a slave?!" I yell and the light above us start flickering. Nobody moves. Nobody dares to breathe. Rage starts suffocating me and something explodes out of me causing them all fall to the floor. The only one standing is the black-eyed man. He breathes "Elemental." "Now what the hell does that mean?! Actually, I don't care. You will answer the questions which I do care about and you will answer right now! Where am I? Why am I here? And where the hell is my family?!" For all my rage he just stands there stil and calm. A true soldier. "Don't you remember? If you're one of us you should remember." As I open my mouth to say a lot of things I'd probably regret he cuts me off "Please. Just calm down, close your eyes and think." For reasons unknown I do what he says. It comes back in flashes. Children's laughter. My beautiful five year old Emily and nine year old Anthony. Em is laughing, Anthony is angry because she's teasing him. My husband Neil behind a driving wheel looking back at them. A truck coming our way. My useless scream and an attempt to cover my children. Metal squeeling. Fire. Blood. No. "I died!" I yell in shock. They just stand quietly around me letting me process all this. "No. That's impossible." But then other things start whirling around in my head. Things I have no way of knowing. I'm not in a plane, I'm in transporter. I'm going to an island to join my new family. Elementals, Soldiers and Slaves. Elementals have controls over certain elements like fire, water, earth, air. There are weaker ones who can control electricity, animals and such. Soldiers don't have powers but they have superior strenght, speed and hearing. Slaves have neither, they are plain souls who do minor chores. I have both. The black eyed man's name is Nikolai. He is our leader, an Elemental. He has control over telekinesis. He can take down an army with one twitch of his head. I feel like I've known him my entire life. He's a good leader and a good friend. He can be trusted. Nobody knows how that works, but when souls leave Earth they appear at the island where they belong. Adrian thought I was a Slave, a soul without any powers or strenghts, drawn to him because of our brief and disastrous time together before. Pure laughter rips out of my lunghs. But what happened to my family? "Nik, where is my family? Are they alive? Why aren't they here with me?". He looks at me with great sympathy in his eyes "I don't know, Mina. Something is wrong. They left with you, but disappeared into thin air. A lot of things aren't the way they should be. But don't be in dispair, we will find them. And I will find out who is behind this." It was like a knife in the gut. Pain no one can discribe coursed through me. My beautiful innocent children. Their laughter. My husband who worked hard every day to make us all happy. Emily, only five years old. No. I know so many things but I don't know where they are. "Noo!" I yell and a huge black hole appears in the middle of the transporter. Everyone starts panicking, I can feel them. Nikolai is yelling at me to calm down, Adrian is terrified and yelling for me to stop but I don't care. All I feel is pain and rage. "Where are my children?!" the hole starts getting bigger, sucking everything inside. "Mina if you don't calm down right now you will kill us all!" Nikolai yells. "I thought we're already dead" I say coldly. "Mina please, this isn't going to get you anywhere. Calm down and stop this before it's too late!" I do as he says even though I didn't calm down one bit. They stare at me like I'm a ghost. "What?" I say. Cameron is the one who answered, second in power, Elemental of fire and Nikolai's best friend "Do you know what you are?" I roll my eyes " Ofcourse I know". Trevor, the leader of Soldiers, a huge mountain of a man with a bald head and the right cheek covered with burn scars, says with a smirk" It's good to know Chaos is on our side". It makes sense that after such a chaotic life I end up being in control of Chaos in the afterlife. Chaos and nightmares. It's going to be fun when I find out who's messing with my family. The door opens and Nik takes my hand as we head out. I started wondering why he's taking my hand when the sun hit my eyes. Brighter than anything I have ever seen it blinded me instantly. It took me a minute to adjust. When I finally manage to open my eyes all I see is green. The most beautiful color one can see, it is impossible to describe. So beautiful that I just stare. Tall trees with thick trunks I have never seen cover half of the island. The soil is so rich brown it looks black where the sun doesn't reach. The other half is white sandy beach, white as snow. But the sea was incredible. Bright green, royal blue and dark purple waves are overlaping each other. It is hypnotizing. The sand near water is a mix of green, blue and purple. The water is not clear, it is actually colorful! I feel the ground beneath my feet shift and I lose my balance. Something slams into me, something thick, potent, overwhelming.. pure power. In that moment I saw everything, every second of my life on Earth, felt every hug, every tear, remembered every smile. Emily..Anthony..Neil.. The pain in my back is sudden and so strong that it brings me to my knees. I scream until my lunghs give out. What is happening. It's like someone is carving my back with a dull knife. I keep screaming as my back starts burning. Am I on fire? Through all the pain I hear a strange sound and something inside my back moves. The pain is gone as suddenly as it appeared. Slowly, I turn my head to the side and see black feathers. This must be a joke. I grew wings. Huge, powerful, shiny, black wings. I look at Nik but he's as shocked as I am. No one knew this would happen. But we know everything.. something is very wrong. "What is that?" somebody yells. I look up and see something flying toward us. Three figures. Is it possible..? As they come closer I see them. My family flying towards me, each with a pair od dove white wings.
