That Night

Marla, Nate, Grey, and Ava all sat at the dining table in the packhouse. Each one of them devouring the dinner before them. “Ava, did you find anything new out today?” Marla took a break from eating. “Yes, I read an entire book about the history of werewolves. I feel like I have barely even scratched the surface. Grey is letting me put a desk and chair in his office so I can continue studying.” “I forgot to ask you Ava, how did your phone call with your parents go?” Grey asked. “It was fine. I told them I knew that I was adopted and asked if they knew what happened to my parents. They said they died in a car crash into the river. They asked how I found out and I said that Marla told me. Marla’s parents had told mine that they knew my birth parents. They knew that this day would come. I told them I need a couple days to digest all this information and I am staying with Marla for an extended amount of time. I am going to start online schooling so I can continue to find out more.” “That should buy us some time. Ava’s parents are usually pretty relaxed and trust Ava to do the right thing. Ava has been independent for most of her life,” Marla explained. “I just have to call them every day and keep up my grades. Easy peasy.” Ava said. “Grey, did you talk to Alpha Cain?” Nate wondered aloud. “Yes, I did, he sent me some information regarding Alpha Archie and a mystery woman who visits him every year on Ava’s birthday. Alpha Cain also said that Alpha Archie never had a mate and never mentioned a child.” “Ava and I are going to conduct more research on Alpha Archie’s mystery visitor tomorrow.” Grey laid out his plans for Nate and Marla. “Marla, I heard you take your training very seriously. I want you to start training Ava in self-defense. You can take tomorrow to make a plan for her training.” “Grey, we did not discuss this. That is a great idea, I am excited to learn.” Although Ava frequently exercised, she didn’t know any way to defend herself. “Ava, you better get ready. I have been waiting for this for a long time.” Marla chuckled. They had all finished their dinners. They decided to watch a movie. Marla and Nate watched the movie intently while Grey and Ava slipped away. “Ava, I know things are all changing and you probably feel overwhelmed, but I am dying to get to know you. I want to know everything about you. I have been waiting for my mate my whole life.” Ava knew what mates were now that she read the book on werewolf history. She started to understand her feelings and the sparks she felt when they touched. Her feelings had been getting stronger the more time they spent together. “Let’s go on a walk then. I have been feeling a bit cooped up. Do you mind?” “Let’s go out back, we have a terrace with a maze of flowers my mother had designed.” “Speaking of your parents, where are they?” Ava asked Grey as they walked out the doors. “My mother and father are on what they call their second honey moon. My dad and mom were Alpha and Luna for over 20 years and deserve a nice long break. When I took over my dad trained me for a year more and then they left to travel and see the world.” “Oh, how wonderful, I can’t wait to meet them and see what a mature mate bond looks like.” “They have a love to be cherished. I am happy for them and a bit jealous.” As they were walking through the flowers, they found a bench and sat down. They looked up at the sky and it was a half moon. Grey felt comforted by its light. Ava strangely felt it too. Things were silent for a little bit. Grey did the classic yawn, wrap your arm around your woman thing. Ava pretended not to notice how cheesy it was. She snuggled in. “Do you feel cold at all?” Grey asked. The fall breeze became cooler at night. “Yes.” She snuggled closer. Ava looked up at Grey and he looked right into her eyes. He lifted her chin with his fingers softly. They could feel each other’s breath on their lips. They moved closer and Grey kissed Ava. Her first kiss ever. She felt the sparks and he pushed further. Ava granted access to her mouth for Grey’s tongue. He licked her lips and sucked her tongue. Ava crawled onto Grey’s lap and straddled him. Grey’s hands wandered her body, finding her ass. Ava didn’t pull away. Ava felt something hard on her. She felt empowered by what she did to Grey. Grey and Ava kissed until they couldn’t breathe any longer. They pulled apart and Ava remained on Grey’s lap. She felt so safe and couldn’t have imagined a better first kiss. “Ava, I feel so close to you. Will you please stay in my room with me? I know it is so fast, but I don’t want to be without you.” “You have been so safe and careful with me. I will stay with you. I haven’t felt this way ever.” Grey felt his heart swell with love. He would not say that until he felt Ava was ready. She was already overwhelmed. “Are you ready to go to bed my darling?” “Yes.” They headed to bed. When they reached the room, Grey picked up Ava bridle style and walked her through the door. She blushed insanely. Ava thought to herself, I don’t have any pajamas. “Grey, I don’t have anything to wear.” “I had one of my personal assistants shop for you today. There are clothes of all sizes in your closet.” “I don’t have a closet here. This is your room.” “Ava, I am planning on keeping you forever. What’s mine is yours. Please make yourself at home.” “I am not ready for that kind of commitment; I will take one drawer from the closet and that’s it. I will be staying for a while. One drawer will be enough.” That went better than Grey thought it would. Ava walked to the closet and saw that it was entirely full with anything she could possibly wear. She turned around, “Grey, please empty this by tomorrow. It is too much I can’t accept.” “Whatever you want, Ava. I will take it away, but please just wear what you would like tonight.” Ava walked to Greys' closet and grabbed a shirt. It fit her like a dress and she wore spandex shorts underneath. She thought this would do for tonight. Ava waited for Grey to leave the bathroom so she could start getting ready for bed. As Grey walked out, he saw what Ava had picked. He was pleased. “Our little mate is teasing us,” Xavier spoke to Grey again. Xavier could feel the bond growing stronger as they spent more time together. Grey rolled his eyes. He had also noticed Ava’s scent becoming stronger. “Ava, you look delicious,” Grey said huskily. Ava blushed and looked away. She pretended she didn’t hear him. “Stop acting like you didn’t hear me. I know you did; I can see it written all over your face.” “Grey, stop, we are not taking this any further than we went in the gardens.” Ava was in bed about to pull another book out she found in Grey’s office. She usually read before bed and wanted to learn as much as she could. “Ava, we are not reading in bed. There are many things that I will allow in bed, but reading is not one of them.” “Grey.” She whined. “My darling, please not tonight. I want to cuddle and go to bed.” “Fine.” Ava would allow it tonight and snuggled into Grey. She fell asleep fast.
