Looking For the Truth

1169 Words
As Ava and Marla walked away Grey grabbed Nate. “Nate get on the phone and request a meeting with Alpha Cain. I need to ask permission to see Alpha Archie. After that get in the history books and look at his bloodline. I believe his last name is Monticello. His pack owns most of the mountain territories.” Grey walked into his office with stress written all over his face. He sat down and tried to think things over. He had just met his mate and hadn’t even kissed her yet. This was disappointing to him. All he wanted was her all the time. Grey had started imagining what their life would be like. He thought she would be a strong and fair Luna. He also thought she would be kind and giving. He loved those traits about her. She was understanding and open-minded. As Grey was thinking about his mate, he decided to lock the door. He couldn’t stop picturing her perfect lips and her round ass. He was getting excited thinking about her. He started imagining what her skin would feel like beneath his fingers. What it would feel like to caress her hardened n*****s. Grey moved his hand to unbutton his pants and find his erection. “Don’t even think about cheating on mate.” The voice in his head growled. Grey’s wolf had been pretty silent since he met Ava. He was upset that the bond didn’t feel as strong. His wolf felt betrayed by Grey, because he hasn’t been able to be close to Ava. He was also upset because as much as he searched, he could not find Ava’s wolf. Grey’s wolf was named Xavier. He was very tough, but melted for Ava. “Grey, Why don’t you want us to get close to mate?” “Xavier, it’s not that I don’t want to. I don’t want to scare her. She has so many changes coming her way. We need to support her, not scare her.” “Fine.” Grey discontinued his previous thoughts. He could hold out for Ava. He knew it would be worth it in the end. He couldn’t wait to get his hands on Ava and not to mention sinking his canines into her beautiful nape. He turned his attention to the Alpha duties he had. All he could do was wait for Alpha Cain to respond. He decided to get to work. Ava was bored so she wandered to Grey’s office. She tried to walk right in, but the door was locked. She knocked. Grey came to the door with the top three buttons of his shirt undone and his hair all messy. She was instantly turned on. She knew that Grey was very good looking, but she had never felt this way for any other man. She'd seen good-looking men before, but ignored them. “Why are you staring at me like that?” Grey knew why, he was just teasing Ava. Ava blushed, and said “Can I come in? I am so bored by myself Marla went to the gym.” “Of course, you can. I just have some work to do. I don’t know if it will be more exciting, but at least you can keep me company.” “I don’t mind, but I do have a lot of questions about everything. I don’t even know where to start.” She followed Grey into the office. She looked around and every wall was filled with dark walnut book cases from floor to ceiling. Ava was in a dream. She loved reading and learning. It looked like Grey enjoyed that as well. While she was in awe of all the books. Grey walked over and grabbed a book for Ava. The History of Werewolves, Ava blinked. “Ava, this should give you some insight to what the werewolf world is like.” Grey worked on the territory maps and Ava read. They spent almost two hours engulfed in their studies. Grey thought he could get used to this. Being close to Ava gave him a certain kind of calmness and drive that made working so much easier. Ava was enamored by the book and was taking notes. She felt safe and secure in the office. “Hey Grey, do you think I could get a desk in here? I want to read all of these books.” Grey looked up at Ava with complete admiration. She didn’t know the kind of effect that had on Grey. She wanted a desk in his office to spend more time there. She didn’t mind being in his presence. It actually seemed like she enjoyed his company. “Of course, darling, anything for you. Why don’t you search for a desk and a chair to make yourself at home?” “Oh really, you mean it?” Ava’s voice went up an octave. Grey could tell she was excited. Ava was surprised at herself. She hadn’t ever felt so close to someone she didn’t even know. The phone rang. Grey picked up the phone. “Alpha Grey, Alpha Cain is calling to speak to you.” Nate passed on the message. “Sure thing Nate, put him through.” “Alpha Cain, thank you for calling me back. I am sure that Nate filled you in on the situation?” “Oh yes, but one thing I don’t understand is that Alpha Archie has never had any kids. Where would this daughter come from? Alpha Archie never even had a mate.” “That’s interesting. I know he wanted her to stay a secret. I didn’t expect you to know.” “You are right, if Alpha Archie wanted to keep it a secret it would have been kept.” “Alpha Cain, how is he doing? Have you visited him recently?” “No Alpha Grey, he hasn’t had any changes for 17 years, but the only intervention he requires is a feeding tube.” “Well, I am not sure what to do about this. I need his information.” “There is this woman who comes and visits once a year. She says she’s a friend, but she always comes on September 6th every year.” Ava’s birthday? Grey questioned himself. That could be her mom! “Is there anyway to get a hold of her?” “Well, she is listed on the visitors list and the emergency contact list. I will email you that information right now!” “Thank you, Alpha Cain, you have been incredibly helpful.” “Thanks Grey. We will be in touch.” Ava listened to the whole conversation. “Grey, can we research her first? I don’t want to surprise her and make her feel bad.” “Ava, we can do what ever you think is best.” “Thank you and she pecked him on the cheek.” Grey smiled. Ava was surprised by herself. Everything came so naturally between them.
